Hit a couple of curb strips in a small Kansas town a couple of days ago. The curb strips in this town are very wide 15-18 feet.
I found one clad quarter and dug several old nails all fairly deep then I got a signal that was jumping from copper cent to silver dime but hit solid every swing. I dug it expecting a wheat penny but was amazed to see a silver half. After admiring my coin for a bit I stuck my Pinpointer back in the hole and got a strong signal and dug up a six inch piece of iron.
I tend to think that the curb strip had been detected in the past but the iron was masking the coin but the manticore was able to separate it.

Nice walker. And you can read the date.
At least fifty percent of mine the date is worn off.
Hope you find his friends.

Looks like the nail actually may have been touching the coin…looks like rust staining on it….very nice find!!!!

Nice find! I have only found one walking liberty half, and it was a dense bed of nails and also had an iron spot on it.

Pretty much silver 101 is gone and this is an excellent example of unmasking a great silver coin.
Way to eek that silver out!

Yes it’s in great shape. I have two walkers I’ve found and both have clear dates.
I also have been lucky enough to dig two SLQs and they both have clear dates as well
