    Speaking of a waterproof GT.

I just posted this on the beach hunting forum. I thought I would design my own. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?26,1275472,1275472#msg-1275472

My ideas for a new Excalibur design.

I do 3D design and modeling in my spare time and thought I would design a new Excabilur with new features that I would like to see in the future. It's basically a modified waterproof Sovereign GT. The mode change or pinpoint switch is just the ticket for those that like to use reverse...

Can someone explain BBS technology in layman's terms?

I know it works and works well and even though I use it and know how to set mine up for my ground I still don't know how it works exactly or what the multiple frequencies are doing I'm not sure I need to know as I'm doing well with it but I'm curious . Is it really putting all those frequencies...

    Critter I tested your settings.

I've done a lot of testing the past few months using every combination possible with every knob and switch and adjustment the GT has and I'm back to setting up my Gt the same as I've always done but I did do some additional testing for you. I did the testing the other day at the beach on deep...

Todays beach hunt with the GT.

A little silver and gold. The white gold wedding band was at least 12 inches deep and gave a nice smooth signal.

    Back to the old Dock.

This dock site just keeps giving and giving. Ended up with two silver rings, 1 white gold wedding band, can't quite make out the kt. it's a little worn and 1 14kt. earring. The GT was hitting the deep nickels today.

    Stamp on gold necklace?

I found a large gold necklace awhile back that is stamped 14kt.Italy and below that "<LFS>" . Does anyone know what the LFS means? Thanks!

Back from testing the GT at the beach.

Nothing earth shattering as far as some secret new settings. What I learned? Iron mask on and iron mask off are about equal in depth but Iron mask off runs quieter with less falsing. I was using sensitivity at 12:00 with iron mask off and when switching to mask on I left the sensitivity there so...

Another day at the same dock site

Spent a couple of hours testing the Sovereign GT with different settings today at the beach. No gold again but managed a couple of ratty silver rings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jW6OIngRb4c

Critter, I'm heading to the beach today to do some testing.

I hate wasting a perfectly good minus tide on testing but it will at least be documented what settings work best on mineralized beaches with the GT. I'm going to find some deep targets and compare signals using iron mask on, iron mask off, auto sensitivity, all metal pinpoint and different...

My finds from several hunts under our local dock.

I tried to make a regular beach detecting video but between the detector in one hand, my digger in the other I kept dropping the camera so I decided to make a video of some finds so far all found under the last 40 ft. of dock at minus tides. I haven't been able to hunt this place out yet except...

    Todays short beach hunt.

I took Beachcombers advice and have been experimenting hunting with iron mask off this past week at some old parks and today at the beach. The beaches like the ground around here are very mineralized and hunting with the iron mask off in these conditions turns the GT into a smoother running...

Testing the Detech 8 inch concentric coil.

Having used this coil on a few hunts now I thought I would share my findings. This coil is hot and might be better suited for low to moderate high minerlization. It is less affected by electrical interference but more affected by mineralization than the DD coils. It also seems to false less in...

First impressions of the Detech 8 inch concentric coil.

First thing is the cable. It's short and I like to hip mount so I'll need to pick up an extension if I keep it. The coil is less prone to electrical interference both inside and outside. When testing inside the house. Max sens. with steady threshold is at 10:00, Sunray S-8 at 12:00 and Tornado 10...

    Where are you Critter?

You left me hanging on your last post about testing and comparing your 12X15 SEF with the 10 inch Tornado on coin sized targets. I'm still thinking about picking up the 10X12. I was also wondering about what your results are using auto sensitivity in the more mineralized areas you were hunting...

    FS: Killer B's headphones.

These have been sitting in the closet. Very little use with miner scuffs from moving around otherwise like new. $55 shipped. Paypal preferred. Thanks! Mike

Air tests, freshly buried coins, hype and damn that Rick!

Critter, this is not directed at you as I know doing your tests is part of the fun of detecting for you. The word 'hype" is probably associated with Minelab more than any other brand out there because they are so different. This is not directed at everyone but maybe someone thinking about...

    An explanation is in order.

The pumping or bobbing method when setting your sensitivity in discrimination mode is not something I just pulled out of the air and is not something I came up with. This method has been used for many years by hunters using different brands of detectors in "bad" ground that varies from site to...

    Just out of curiosity?

I know the Sovereign's and Excalibur's are supposed to transmit 17 different frequency's but heard that they only process 1or 2 ? of those on the receive end. If so does it pick the best frequency (S?) that is best for the ground conditions or the target or maybe both?

The dock that just keeps giving.

Some finds from my last 4 hunts around a local fishing/swimming dock and some small jewelry finds from earlier hunts around the same dock. There is a couple of other guys that hunt this same beach but lucky for me they don't use Minelabs.
