Active Analyze Screen Freezing up ???.

Hi, Detectors do all sorts of things. Take a beer can, smash it flat, and bury it an inch deep. It will not give you a nice, normal coin response. Oddball targets produce oddball responses. Once you know what kind of target caused your detector to respond as it did you will have information you...

Active Analyze Screen Freezing up ???.

Hi, So what was the target? You've only told half the story. Your detector told you something. What was the answer? The trick to learning any detector is to listen and look at what it is telling you, then dig up the item to see how that correlates with what the detector told you. So the real...

Target Resolution, VDI Spread and Target Stability

Hi, With normalize on (the default setting) in theory you get about the same VDI in all three frequencies. If you turn normalize off in 2.5 kHz or 22.5 kHz single frequency the numbers will definitely skew different than what you are used to. Steve Herschbach

My Minelab Blows the Vision Away for Depth

Hi Gerrit, Now that's what I'm talking about! Fabulous find indeed. There are some things I'll dig junk for a week just for the chance at making a decent find. It is times like that where sheer depth is all that matters, even if it means digging pounds of junk. Thanks for sharing. Steve...

Ha! Devil's in the details!! Steve Herschbach

    beach hunted today

Hi Keith, You went the wrong way. Tray 22.5 kHz only mode. Should clear it up. Also, lowering RX Gain and Disc Sensitivity both can help. Steve Herschbach

My Minelab Blows the Vision Away for Depth

Hi, I don't know. But give me accurate discrimination on a high power PI unit, I'd pay $10,000.00 for it, and quit my day job to go use it. Steve Herschbach

My Minelab Blows the Vision Away for Depth

Hi, Don't have a Nautilus and don't have to. There is not a VLF unit made that will match a Minelab SD/GP/GPX ground balancing pulse induction detector for sheer depth. The post was tongue in cheek however, because you get no discrimination either with those units. The Naughty will easily get...

Target Resolution, VDI Spread and Target Stability

OK, what do I mean when I talk about Target Resolution, VDI Spread and Target Stability? Look at it this way. On Garrett Ace 150 you get 5 VDI readings which Garrett gives names (iron, nickel, pulltab, rings, and coins) but really should just 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. All targets fall under one of...

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Hi, I agree with Brett. Bug fixes should be free. But if a new feature is activated just offer it at a price, and it is up to me to buy it or not. What you can charge for it would be determined by how compelling the feature is. In theory you guys could offer a dumbed down base unit. Say a 7.5...

    White's Official Audio Volume Fix

Hi Carl, I for one would be very grateful to someday be able to own a detector that could be updated via software downloads from the internet. I can only imagine the loyalty that would be created by a company contacting me as an end user and telling me there was a free update I could download...

    I have some vision questions.

Hi, As far as gold goes in my opinion the V3 is markedly superior in performance compared to the DFX. As to how it will handle bad ground I will not be able to report until I get out to my mine in June. Our ground is pretty tough on the GMT and MXT. I have reason to think the V3 may actually...

Vision D2 coil and 22.5 KHz

Hi, My Vision is most stable in 22.5 kHz mode. In some places I get electrical interference in te 2.5 kHz mode, and going to 22.5 kHz eliminates the interference. In other words, my unit runs great in 22.5 kHz mode with the D2 coil. Steve Herschbach

    Question to Steve herschbach

Hi, First off, thanks to ak_1234. I've NEVER seen this level of communication from a manufacturer before. You have to go to the Expert Menu then: Audio .......| .......Tone .............| .............Tone ID Mode ................................| ................................Custom...

    Exciting new Whites detector huh!

Hi, I'm going out here on a limb because I have never seen this question asked, much less answered. I therefore must disclaim this with a statement that "I really do not know". That said, the V3 is different in that you can choose one of three frequencies instead of running all three. I would...

    Hot rocks in Oahu Hawaii

Hi Terry, I really respect your opinion and am waiting to hear what you have to say. You live in a very tough detecting environment. Hot rocks, salt water, and electrical interference. I'm somewhat amazed you could get any functionality at RX of 15 with TX Boost on. Steve Herschbach

    Ground Probe

Hi, My MXT has a ground balance reading but no "mineral amount" reading that I am aware of. Where are you seeing it? Steve Herschbach
  19. S

    what are hot rocks

Hi, A hot rock is any rock like object that is differs enough from the surrounding soil and therefore ground balance setting that it generates a signal from your detector. Your detector has a ground balance setting that is adjusted to not signal on a given ground response. So let's pretend...

    Ground Probe

Hi, People think a ground balance setting tells you something about how much ground mineralization there is. This is not quite correct. A GB setting takes into account the TYPE of ground mineralization, not the AMOUNT. I know of only three machines that can reveal a true ground reading. The...
