    Comparison testing... my views

I hope to get a V soon to pair up with my TDI and do some detecting when I move to Virginia in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile here in Arizona - I thought it would be a neat idea to get my neighbor, who I know has a ML Explorer to get with me and play with our detectors on an older site here in...

    Bigfoot

A quick check of coompleted auctions on ebay showed prices from $200 to $590!!!!

    Bigfoot

Will the Bigfoot be optimized for the V? I note a quote from one of Steve H's posts on another forum from 2005: The Bigfoot is the kind of coil I'll buy a detector for. If the V is going to be a jewelry magnet - then a bigfoot should clean up in the tot lots.

Masking, Depth and the Inevitable Comparisons

Great stuff everyone - now how about we talk about masking - has everybody read the Dankowski article? Here's the link; http://www.dankowskidetectors.com/behindthemask.htm Do you think it's really a big factor?f If it is, then old sites will be "new" again when we get a detector which can...

    I have a Vision!

Always a good idea to read previous posts. Been answered already by Carl. Just go to the top of the page - click search - pit in the key word or words (for ex. language) - select the Vision Forum from the drop down list and ckick search.

Masking, Depth and the Inevitable Comparisons

Thanks for your imput Steve, I am sure you are right, lots of folks just like one machine over another for the simple reason that it "fits" them. I don't expect that the Vision or any other machine will be so clearly superior in - let's say - silver recovery in parks - that everyone will agree...

Masking, Depth and the Inevitable Comparisons

It seems to me that this hobby of ours suffers from a declining ROI (Return on Investment). Unlike golf, offroading, target shooting or most other "guy" activities, detecting often as not yields results which have monetary value. As the price of detectors goes up, the access to sites and the...

    Some new pictures

I White's makes this firmware updatable via a wireless link and USB dongle to your computer. then they're really going to have something. Lots of devices are updatable that way - phones. computers. gps's etc., but the product cycle is so short that it doesn't typically amount to much since the...

    Diggin in Virginia

Diggin In Virginia XI is coming up next weekend. Anybody know if any of the new V's will be in use there? A post on the DIV forum about the using the DFX noted that you had to dig everything since in that highly mineralized ground everything sounded like iron. Would be interesting to see...

    What a detector

Larry, How about sharing some of your favorite things about the new V with us - some things which really set it apart from other top of the line machines based on your own experience?

    Coils

I wonder how the 3 feqs. having their differing results displayed simultaneously will do in terms of seeing where masking is taking place. I'm pretty sure that improving the ability to see around if not through ferrous masking is the biggest potential for recovering previously undetected...

What I posted on another forum

I'm assuming that the Vision is going to be in "regular release" - not like the TDI where you have to go in to a dealer and learn the secret handshake. When do you expect to have units to sell? I liked what you posted - brand loyalty is a funny thing - folks get so defensive about what...

    Compass AU 52 coils

The AU 52 is a Compass Gold Detector - operates at 52kHz. Anybody know anything about the coils which were available? Is it possible to adapt White's Goldmaster coils (50 kHz)? What about installing a meter - perhaps from the Gold Scanner Pro? Thanks Rick K

    Compass AU 52

Barring loss in the mail, I should have my hands on one of these in a week or so. I have seen pictures of it with a round coil and with an elliptical one. Anyone know which came first and whether they are DD or concentric? Also, Is it likely that the coils for the White's 48 kHz Goldmaster...

    Gas and Small Change

OK folks, You drive 20 miles round trip to detect a nearby park. You spend 4 hours finding 3 quarters, two dimes and 14 zinc pennies. About a buck. Starting with a cold car, you use a gallon of gas at $4. You're out 3 bucks and half a Saturday. Your detector cost $350 and at this rate will...
