What USB charger do you use for the Equinox ? can you use the USB off a computer?

Note to my above answer... The 500mA rating is for USB2 and with USB3 the current was upped to 900mA for the typical laptop computers. Chargers are a different story I have them rated from 500mA to 2.4Amps (2400mA). Most devices you would be charging will decrease the current draw from the...

What USB charger do you use for the Equinox ? can you use the USB off a computer?

Just about any charger will work, some faster than others. And definitely faster than the computer's USB port. Look at the fine print on all chargers and pick one that has the OUTPUT as 5VDC 2.0Amps (2000mA). The Amp rating is the one you want to be sure of. 2.0A will charge the detector about...

$1000 fine for going to the beach...

I never thought I would live to see this...so much for a leisurely day detecting on the beach! "Per the Governor's order, not following the order is a misdemeanor subject to a $1,000 fine," said Dr. Wilma Wooten, San Diego County Public Health Officer. Ref...

A Headphone Question for Equinox Users

I made a waterproof adapter EQ800 to GG Amphibians, no complaints at all. As wireless does not work when control panel of any detector is submerged the Law of Blue Tooth physics has not been overcome yet. Maybe someday someone will come up with a way to communicate from underwater to above...

    NOX truns on/off on/off ...

When I found the bracelet I was comparing 3 detectors; the 800, Excalibur and ATX. The Excalibur did not respond, the ATX gave a choppy signal, but the 800 was a solid signal. I do not use the display very often as most of my detectors do not have a display. But with the new 800 I was checking...

    NOX truns on/off on/off ...

Way back in the spring of 2018 - two years ago... A half an hour into my second salt water hunt, while digging a target the Equinox’s audio went wild, multiple beeps of different tones and would not stop. I saw the Cd error code, powered the unit OFF and went back to the car where I dried it...

    Excal Questions

Not as you would ever notice it, but listening to all the iron....get a new knob 1/4 inch with a brass screw. I have several when you get back to the Cape if you still need one. I have used the WOT 15" coil for almost 10,000 hours, now that the two coils have died of old age and I am getting...

    Minelab Jacket and Vest

At a Minelabing event, maybe 10-15 years ago. I have seen only one other in use. I fund one at a dealer as in 1954streetrod's picture - grayish in color, new, size large. Let me know if you are interested and I will PM the contact info. Lots of pockets, zippers and mesh lining.

I've Finished Up All My aa Battery Test, and the Results Are In!, 'The Good' 'The Bad' and 'The Average'

FYI, in my testing using Li-Ion batteries, I found the Excalibur 1000 draws about 55ma, the ATPro about 65ma and the ATX a whopping 185ma. Detector settings including audio had very little affect on the current draw.

Aftermarket shafts. What you got ? Like it ?

Personally, for me, the ATX shafts are oversized and over weight when compared to other options in today;s materials. The ATX was built from the base of a military mine detection, not salt water hobby detecting machine. I have to say that once in the water its weight becomes the least of the...

Aftermarket shafts. What you got ? Like it ?

The ATX is quite a different detector from the ATPro/Gold/Max detectors. Your shafts look great, love the rid and blue versions. If only they would fit to the ATX detector. Thanks for the note.

Aftermarket shafts. What you got ? Like it ?

For the Equinox: Plugger's - no wobble - no metal pins - tight plastic shaft locks For the Excalibur Plugger's Over and Under. Pistol grip - no "S" shaft. Fits inside my vehicle were as the behind the elbow being almost a foot longer will not fit without adjusting the shaft down. I use of nylon...

Traveling to Antigua or Barbuda? A MUST READ! :surrender:

I must be on a roll to knock off places to vacation with my detector. In August 3, 2018's Antigua Observer I read that: "Visitors and residents in Antigua and Barbuda are being warned to stop using metal detectors to uncover artefacts on the country’s beaches. In a press release on Wednesday...
