Just bought a Legend at age 70…

Legend beats the F75 in all ways but ergonomics and it's not far behind there either.

Four rings just under the grass.

Good for you , had a similar day recently myself. 5 ring day in an elementary school tot lot , 2 were .925. Doesn't happen much anymore!!

Convince me TO NOT get a Legend.

^^^^^ My experience has been similar to Mark up above and have dug as many or more deep coins with the Legend as I did with either the etrac or CTX , my dirt consistently balances in the low single digits. I could/would not update to 1.11 until Nokta did whatever voodoo they do to make doing the...

Convince me TO NOT get a Legend.

Legend hands down , are they new or used and what coils come with the legend. Doesn't really matter the legend is leaps and bounds worth more than the Simplex

    Ctx is a water monster

The CTX is a beast and it should be for the price. Dump the GPS and put the same package in a light weight model and it would be another winner.

Has anyone ever used a Minelab GPX 5000 on a park searching for coins

Find a White's TDI instead , that would make it death by a thousand small cuts versus 5000.

Has anyone ever used a Minelab GPX 5000 on a park searching for coins

Who cares ?! 95% of the trash in the parks I have hunted is non ferrous to begin with. If you are a dig everything type detectorist then go for it , the iron will be the least of your "treasures" but the Ronald McDonald House in your area will love all the pull tabs you bring them and the park...

Has anyone ever used a Minelab GPX 5000 on a park searching for coins

I have a friend who attempted that and it was a short adventure for him. I doubt if he covered 10 square feet before he saw the lack of wisdom in that decision. As they say , the best lessons come from bad decisions.

    Today's heartbreaker....

It was high , almost zinc penny high which made me suspicious but I found another with the Deus 1 that ran high and it was genuine. Worst thing was , I stopped hunting with time to spare I was so pumped up :(

    Today's heartbreaker....

I had a similar experience a few months ago when I found this. Even has a golden hue to it but appears to be something called listrium or some such thing. High school ring and I did find the person's number listed on the inside but he never responded to a message. I'm still taking it to the...

    Anyone know what this is?

Possibly a large animal (mastadon?) turd that got fossilized and resulted in the outer and inner color difference. Be sure you wash you hands after handling;)

Gold among the sea of lead

You need to avoid the detecting forums and find a good one involving alchemy!!

First run with the Nokta/Makro Legend

Shoot , I find that much every time I go out , nnaaaahhhggtt . :DI have found it to be a very productive machine as well and continue to learn to trust it as much as I used to trust my CTX and etrac.

    Quarter haul today

No nickels would concern me a bit as that's where the really good stuff lies. I try to dig everything 1 number up and down from the solid nickel VDI even in the trashy areas and especially out in the interior part of soccer or football fields. I will occasionally try the dig everything method...

    Quarter haul today

They're not very shiny so probably been there for a while so I would guess the place doesn't get detected very often and there may be plenty more! A couple weeks ago I stumbled onto a spill with 20 quarters in an 8" circle , many were still shiny everywhere but the edges as if they were still...

    925 ring today Finally…

I used to find 2 or 3 silver rings every hunt dirt fishing , even if they were just toe rings it made it a better day but today droughts are common. People don't wear jewelry as much anymore ,,,,they get tattoos.!!
