    Is it just Dumb Luck?

I am a dirt fisher I can't speak for the beach hunters per say... but I am a "gridder" yet I hunt with zigzaggers with no set detecting search pattern... I find more stuff, they find less but more valuable stuff... so I guess whatever works for you... I have tried the walk in circles from tree...

how my finds rang in today...

the VDI numbers posted are not the numbers I got/get while running 28 sensitivity, they are when I hit auto +3 to check a signal... I kept track of most today... clad quarters are spot on at 12-46, clad dimes most of the time are 12-44, but occasionally come in at 12-43, copper memorials are 99%...

back to the park.. wheats all over

yes sir! funny, you can tell I was not zoned in on the nickel range... NO pulltabs!:D I have a weird hunting style... when hitting a new area I grid small sections at a time... I swing fast, dig fast and cherry pick all high tones the first few passes then I open up and start digging mid...

back to the park.. wheats all over

my best wheat day this year.. 8 total in a 2 hr hunt this morning... I did my first grid of a 20 x 40 area pulled 5 wheats and some clad, started on my second 180 grid and got 3 more wheats and a silver ring before they showed up to cut the grass... I can always go back later... the ground was...

    dry ground VS wet ground...

heading out tomorrow to the same spot I last hit... ground has dried to the point of cracking again... we'll see if I can once again run "hot" or if I have to back it off... I'll update later tomorrow. mostly open screen, FE discriminated from 27 to 35, and the CO 50 line is discriminated all...

RNB Innovations battery for Minelab Vanquish

I uses the RNB in my E-trac... I HIGHLY recommend it. I charged only 3 times in the last 4 months after putting many, many hours on it. I'm going to order the 540 for a back-up or side detector and will also buy the RNB if available...

If someone posted they found one, I missed it

I don't know how old this badge is... maybe 1980's? but in the 60's-70 race riots and unrest, I was told Firefighters wore a similar badge after being sworn in to assist in policing certain areas... here public safety is police and Firefighters... the badge was found in the grass parking area...

If someone posted they found one, I missed it

technically not a "police" badge, found recently... Public safety officers here are sworn officers... job duties are different. my first ever badge find in over 20 years...

    the silver streak is over!

the ground here is highly mineralized... not like normal soil up north where i could get deep in wet soil...here I'm lucky when running in auto it hit's 9 or 10... the dirt/earth is not the same everywhere... I prefer dry ground because my detector does...

    the silver streak is over!

My E-trac sings out a silver in dry ground.. in wet ground it's a fight!

    the silver streak is over!

Highly mineralized soil here.. the water must act as a conductor and create mayhem!

    the silver streak is over!

been skunked since it started raining and the ground got wet again... I do believe the E-trac likes the ground dry. I cannot get deep in the wet soil, pulled 25 clad quarters and 40 dimes in the past few outings... all less than 3"... no signals deeper than 4". I did manage a Vietnam veterans...

    dry ground VS wet ground...

I have found only 2 so far.. oldest silver coin 1873.. most early to mid 1900's...

    dry ground VS wet ground...

I hit well with all coils in dry soil... I just ordered a 12x10sef.. but my problem lies in wet soil.... the water seems to super halo the mineralization and mask targets... just the past 10 days with the soil super dry... silver was very easy to find, as per my finds posts... not so much since...

    dry ground VS wet ground...

had a 3 week period with no rain and the digging was tough... but silver just popped in the dry ground here, and my silver count went way up... the last few days it has been raining occasionally and I have found I can no longer run "hot" meaning a 28 sensitivity... so back down to either auto +3...

    hunting partners...

I have had a few through the years... I always have trouble, either they use me for my spots, or they hate taking me to theirs because I know my detector very well... why take a guy like me who knows my detector to a permission or spot you have??? I gotta stop sharing my spots.. which I hate to...

    ground find... silver!

I don't want to get OT of this thread... but I took all my classes the first 6 months... stop the bleed, first aid, ground 1 and 2 rescue and AED... all i have had for many years minus the ground 1 and 2... they never sent my certification(s)... the left hand does not know what the right is...

never mind.. a friend who has better eyes ID'd it as a aluminum/tin "Wooden Nickel" play money he said because of the word "FIVE" that it's probably 40's or 50's... and had an Indian head on both sides...

token or play money ID help...

yes it's hard to read but maybe someone has found something similar in the past and can help me ID it... on one side I can make out 5 and a circle of dots, the reverse side I can only make out the word ICK and a few letters around... I believe it's aluminum and about the size of a penny. rang in...

    ground find... silver!

I went through SAR training 2 years ago... never made it as a ground pounder... I would show up with all my equipment at an active scene after receiving an alert, they "let" me work the coffee table 2 or 3 times with the ladies auxiliary ... I am built for rough terrain, but all the over...
