OBN, What is the gold count this year??

If the 1984 Evinrude on mine acts up I've already said I'll replace it with a new four stroke. I think the Suzuki is the lightest of the bunch in the 25 hp range. On the local beaches here I've found a Morgan Silver dollar and a seated liberty dime ... don't recall the dates, would have to go...

OBN, What is the gold count this year??

Here is ours. We will be in Florida next week, maybe when we get back I'll need to go explore that beach by the inlet with a detector.

OBN, What is the gold count this year??

There is a nice beach near a local inlet opening to the ocean that we see a lot of people on when we are out fishing for flounder. There are rows of condos near that beach and virtually no public parking within about 1.5 miles. One of these days I will need to take a detector out on the boat and...

    Why no Fisher Impulse forum?

I've got three stock batteries. One got about 2.5 hours, the other two were between 2 hours 50 minutes and three hours.

    Why no Fisher Impulse forum?

Probably because there are not a lot of them.

First Day with the Fisher Impulse AQ

I was out yesterday with the Impuse AQ LTD and got a reminder of the one thing I dislike the most about it ... susceptible to EMI. When I got in front of one resort that also had a lot of people on the beach in front of it the chatter started. Turned the sensitivity down to 2 until I got away...

2 New machines and a pinpointer

Was hoping to hear one was a pulse induction they have been said to be working on; yet congrats on two more water proof units! (plus the pin pointer).

OBN, What is the gold count this year??

Without giving away too much ... some places that require a walk to get to the sweet spot were once popular beaches that drew large crowds decades ago that have since been abandoned, now border private land, border developments ... a whole bunch of reasons they are not frequented today. Finding...

    CZ70 pro tips

On the beach I like to run the CZs well into the boost range to bring out the deep targets in autotune mode. Good targets still present as narrower than iron does although I still don't walk away from as many bottle caps as I might if I walked away from all the wider sounding targets.

    CZ70 pro tips

Here is an oldie but goodie hint page for CZ's, although it is mainly focused on detecting dirt rather than beach. http://www.mikewd.fws1.com/mikestips.htm

Small thin chain found with AQ LTD

Where I'm at (most of the time) that area is normally pretty hard packed. Might be more a dry sand tool if I were to make or obtain one.

    CZ70 pro tips

I have not used a cz70. I've used CZ5, CZ20 and CZ6a. On the beach I like to hunt auto tune (all metal) with a barely audible threshold and flip to discriminate mode to add target information. In discrimination mode, the CZ platform will slide an ID down as the target gets deeper. A deep gold...

Small thin chain found with AQ LTD

A few years ago I was considering getting or making a rake to snag chains like this. The more I read of those who used them had me rethink because the reported effort to drag the rake through the sand seemed to be a better endeavor if I were a few decades younger.

Small thin chain found with AQ LTD

Got to give credit to the detector. Even with ATS at 8 and delay at 10.5 to quiet things in the water movement it hit very audibly.

Small thin chain found with AQ LTD

I rarely get chains, let alone this small. Was about knee deep in the wash and the AQ hit on this one. Did not come up on the first scoop but did on the second scoop. No good way to know how deep it was but it is heard well on the AQ in the air at 4 inces and fades out around 5 inches. It is...

Need help fixing my old sword Excaliburs

I'm not finding the info right away. I'll do some more looking. Perhaps Oldbeechnut will see the post ... I think he has the information pretty close at hand. Edited to add: Read down this thread. It has some of the information but not all...

First time Water detecting. 10 cents richer.

Handle floats. I have an eye hook on the end so I can put a leash on the scoop too. I use boogie board leashes that I take off of the broken cheap foam boogie boards that people buy for their kids. Kids break them then they are deposited in the trash cans by the beach. Those leashes are in use...

First time Water detecting. 10 cents richer.

Sunspot Equipment Stealth scoop, 720 hybrid model. I bought mine when they were still being made in Michigan. Manufacturing has been moved offshore now.

First time Water detecting. 10 cents richer.

I use a scoop with small holes on the bottom section. Works a lot better for me than carrying a sifter around when I'm working a mile or more of beach both over the wet sand and in the water looking for cuts in the sand. If I were only in the water, like I was when I was in Maryland working the...

    CZ 5 recovery speed

In discrimination mode, targets hide near iron. When you get accustomed to the sound in all metal and sweep from different directions around a target, a narrower tone from one sweep direction and wider from another sweep angle can indicate non-ferrous masked by ferrous. The only way to know for...
