Buckles Xs 4 and buttons Xs more and one lone 1831 large cent

The leaves are changing nice here and so it was a beautiful day to be out in the woods. I went back to the site that I recovered King George's, Draped busts and a batwing buckle or two about a month ago and was pleasantly surprised to come away with all this today. These finds were all within an...

The Connecticut copper spill lives on....Caught on video, just barely...:video:

I found another Connecticut Copper in the same place I had located the four Connecticut Copper spill in late April of last year. Here is the story on those... http://www.findmall.com/read.php?86,1902127 Somehow, I missed this one on my return visits and crisscrossing the area in what I thought...

Trying out my new camera glasses to record a deep woods button recovery...

Found two buttons deep in the woods. I will have to hit that area harder... No real interesting finds, but this walk in the woods instead of back and forth gridding a cellar hole was a nice change. The leaves are changing and the air is getting crisp... If only I didn't have to pay dearly...

Metal Detecting with horses.. A lot of horses..

http://youtu.be/j87ZHYlaQoY CTTodd and I didn't end up finding what we were looking for in the field but we did make a lot of new friends. They were sniffing my headphones as I was walking and trying to help me pinpoint the few targets I dug up.. Our destination was a religious society that had...

18th century coins, buckle and thimble and button

It was a long morning detecting. Thankfully I found some nice early coppers. I think one may be a Irish coin I'll have to look it up later. I also found a thimble, button and part of a buckle [attachment 298808 20140908_142401_20140908_143716.jpg][attachment 298809...

An eight early copper day, hooray!

Wow! What a great morning. It was quite a walk to get to the site. But definitely worth the sweat.I picked up where I left off the other day and discovered many more coins including draped busts and King Georges and unidentifiable coppers. There is still more ground to be covered and hopefully I...

Batwing Buckle, clipped and whole colonial coppers, musketballs, and more

Another great day of detecting. I ended up finding another bat wing buckle an early King George, a couple cut coins with at least one being a king George of some type , a musket ball and a couple buttons. I also made another new friend if you see him in the picture in the background. [attachment...

A gorgeous day, a nice large cent, beautiful relics, and I made a new friend :twodetecting:

Its hard to ask for more than that right? Early today, I went back to the foundation I had recently recovered the draped busts, and the 1787 New Jersey copper to see what else I could find. I was able to recover numerous beautiful old relics from the early 1800's and maybe even the late 1700's...

Again not following "advice" paid off

Oftentimes I quietly chuckle to myself when I hear on the forums "there was never a home in that field, don't waste your time detecting it." I hope a lot of people listen to the inaccurate advice these folks dispense because it's going to leave a lot more for me. Case in point I just found...

A 1787 Nova Caesarea, Two Draped Busts, Buttons, and a Crooked spoon and Bonus Crooked Fork!

I was reminded again today that a lot of research pays off. That research led me to what I thought may be an untouched cellar hole in the middle of a forest. Shortly after finding the site, I discovered a nice New Jersey copper dated 1787, [attachment 297092 2.JPG][attachment 297093...

Permission denied to a privately owned 18th century historical site

Why? Not because I didn't ask right, or have the right connections (which I most definitely do) but because the first and last guy that the owner allowed to detect there dropped a cigarette butt which caught the grass on fire which then burned down one of his barns... Please be careful out...

An early shoe buckle, a whatzit and the crooked spoon

It was a nice evening of detecting with CTTodd. My research led us a bit astray on this one so we wasted some time in the wrong field. Typically I can be fairly sure of where a place is going to be, but I guess a 160 years ago the mapmakers had a rough night before they went out to survey this...

At least we found one draped bust....

Another good hunt with CTTodd this morning. I found some nice buttons and one draped bust. Last time we were there we found 15 large cents so it wasn't as exciting, but fun nonetheless.. Just another draped bust large cent recovery video http://youtu.be/r1if5hJBscU

Two cent coin pocket spill, large cents, and buttons

CTTodd and I rambled into uncharted territory today. Our destination was a site that is remote enough that we needed to use Todd's ATV to get there. We had a pretty good idea where the cellar hole was that we where looking for but once we got to there we didn't see it. Since there was so much...

Running at full bore with the 17 incher pays off

I went out today to the site that I dug my 1793 Liberty Cap Cent. I went to the area that I call Button Hill because I've pulled so many buttons out of there. I have crisscrossed Button Hill many times with the stock coil of the CTX and more so with the E Trac and Explorer. It was a chatterbox...

Bears, Buttons, and Large Cents...Wait what?!

Today I was running solo, and I decided to head back into the deep dark woods where I had done very well about twenty years ago. The woods have changed a lot since I was there last time but, that doesn't mean there isn't some interesting discoveries to be made. I headed for where I had found an...

So many early American coppers in so little time....

CTTodd and I made it out to an obviously virgin field site this evening. Apparently these farmers had a lot of holes in their pockets. [attachment 293878 fieldkennel.JPG] Research had indicated that there was at least a couple homesteads there at one time and it only took a couple quick swings...
