    I have thought about this and I wonder... if your vehicle gets really hot would it help to lay one of those foil covered windshield thingies over your detectors or get a "frozen food bag" from the grocery store and slip it over your coil... still I don't see any way a black coil can get hotter...

    I hang a light colored cap over the pods of any detectors I carry in my truck mostly so they don't bump each other or something else and get marred. I always have several detectors in the back seat... never had a bit of a problem either but I drive and extended cab F-150 with heavily tinted...

    I hunt in some pretty darn hot weather but I never use a cover for the box or for the pod. The cover on the pod may actually be making it hotter. The pod needs no cover even in the rain and you can get a screen cover replacement cheap from White's... or you can get a pack of Palm screen...

    I'd suggest that if you don't already have one, get yourself another detector to use when you get frustrated. That really helps me to continue with a detector that frustrates me.
