Got in another short hunt with my E-Trac

Went into town and hunted a small yard I pounded with my Explorer. I'd just gotten an iffy target when my wife called and told me it was time to come home for supper. As soon as i got off the phone I dug this large cent. It's my first this year and my first with the E-Trac. I think I'll like...

My first old coin with the E-Trac and I scratched it.

I had a little time to kill in town so I stopped at a home I've hunted previously with my Explorer, F70 and MXT. The first thing I found was a gold-plated ring, then I dug an eaten up zinc penny a llttle over 4in deep. The next hit I got was similar to the zinc but a little deeper so I wasn't...

spent an hour at the local park with my Explorer II and pro coil

I really like the pro coil, you can run the sensitivity much higher without problems than you can on the stock coil. When I came home I had only found a silver-plated hair barette, a rivet and one fat penny. There is no clad to get in your way at this park but all the good finds are very deep...

Took my MXT for a walk today...

checked out a corn field where there was a school in the 1860's. Only hunted an hour and covered about half the site so I'll be going back. The eagle cuff button is a first for me the others I've dug have all been the larger ones. Nothing great found but it was sure good to get out.

First hunt this year with the F70

I headed for a home site in a corn field a mile from my home. The 6in coil if fantastic for hunting among the corn stalks and the depth is unreal for such a small coil. The ground was still almost too wet to walk in but I stayed almost a half hour anyway. No way I was going to get skunked...

Took my F70 to a corn field today...

didn't stay very long it was just below freezing and the wind was gusting almost 30mph. I stayed a half hour before my hands started getting cold, thankfully I didn't get skunked. I managed to find 3 bullets, a suspender buckle, the back of a 2-piece button and a dateless 2 cent piece. So far...

A short hunt in a corn field...

took my F70 and 6in coil to a corn field a 1/2 mile from my house and hunted a home site from the 1860's. The wind was bitter cold so I didn't last very long before heading back to the car. Managed to find 2 IH pennies, an 1865 and an 1859 "fattie". Yesterday at the same site I got another IH...

Got out for an hour yesterday...

despite sub-freezing temps and a cold north wind I hunted a couple of sites. The first site was a bean field where I looked for an early church meeting house site. I spent a half hour there swinging the 6x10 and only found the button with the anchor on it. The gilt button and the two coins...

Coins from my fall field hunting...

These coins are from a half dozen sites within a few miles of my home. These aren't all the coins I found, I gave some large pennies and IH pennies to land owners. There are 6 large cents, 3 IH fatties, 9 later IH pennies, 3 shield nickels, 2 V nickels, 2 merc dimes, one seated dime and two...

Coins from my fall field hunts...

These coins are from a half dozen home and school sites in bean and hay fields within a few miles of my home. This isn't all of them, I gave away some large pennys and IH pennies to the land owners. I also didn't include any buttons, bullets, buckles or heel and toe plates found. There are 6...

Got 8 cents and a button today...

went back to the bean field that has the school site in it. Got to hunt about an hour with my MXT and 6X10dd coil. I found a very nasty V-nickel, 3 IH pennies and a small button that has a little gold gilt or plate on it. After I left there, I drove around and found 2 other home sites...

    Another fattie for the MXT...

This is the 3rd fattie for the MXT this month. I thought it was an 1864 but after washing the dirt off I can't read any date. Today I was using the 6x10DD as my friend and I were checking out several sites I'd found on my 1800's plat maps. I prefer the 6x10 for exploring a field since I can...

F70/6in coil combo does it again...

Hunted a while at an old school site in a beanfield and got one good hit. The F70 with 6in coil is a killer combo for me. Even though I'm still in the learning process (still on first set of batteries) this large cent makes the 4th one for the little Fisher. One thing I have a hard time...

    More field Indians

Found the 1865 IH in a bean field with the 6x10 coil and the 1859 "fattie" in the cornfield behind my house using the 4x6 coil. The homesite in the beanfield was so trashy, I'm going back tomorrow and use the 4x6 and see if any coins were being masked by iron or other homesite trash.

    More bean field hunting...

been hunting several bean fields that contain home site from mid to later 1800's. Most of the finds were made with my MXT and 6x10DD but a few were gotten with my F70 and 6in coil. The one button in the last photo almost gave me a heart attack. It doesn't show up well in the photo...

Good day with the F70 and 6in coil..

spent a couple of hours in a soybean field hunting a home site gone long before 1900. Found 6 cents, buckshot, buckles, buttons, even a clay marble. I'm still waiting this place to give up a silver coin though. The 6in coil is just the ticket for wading thru the iron that covers these old...

Short hunt in a bean field..

I was at the bean field for 2hrs today but only hunted about 30 minutes. The rest of the time the owner and I visited. I don't really mind, today he gave me the location of another home site in a different bean field that only shows on my 1865 plat map. I found the IH just before the owner...

Did a little bean field hunting yesterday...

found a beanfield that had 4 homesites on it from 1865-1909. Spent a few hours with a friend hunting two of the homesites. The MXT in relic mode with the 6x10 was just the ticket for hunting in the soybean stubble. We didn't find any old coins but lots of the usual homesite items...

The F70 and 6in coil really surprised me...

I left this morning intending to detect one of 5 field sites so I took my F70 and the 6in coil. Unfortunately none of the sites were available. 3 had crops still on them and the other 2 were being worked. Decided to take the F70 and do a little clad hunting. It's a dandy little clad machine...

Got out this morning and this evening at an old home site..

I happened across this site the other day on the way home. Don't see many hay fields around my home and this one is only a mile from me. Don't know why I hadn't noticed it before. When I checked my plat maps, I discovered a home site on the 1874 map that didn't show on the 1909 map. It took...
