    Clinick's DFX Gold Methods

Just finished Clive's book on DFX Gold Methods, and although it's based more on the DFX than other machines, found it to contain some excellent "how to" information on hunting for gold rings that can easily be applied to any good notching detector, the Xterras included. Well worth the...

    What's Going On Here ?

Can anyone offer up any ideas about the results of this little test ? [attachment 13072 Untitled-Scanned-01.jpg] We're all familiar with the theory of "target averaging", but this one has me stumped. If you take a nickel with an I.D. of 12 by itself on the Xterra 30, and place it inside a...

    Are there any ?

Playing around with the Xterra-30 some more tonight on the bench, I began wondering if there are any truly "fast response" digital I.D. machines out there ? Most of these newer breed seem to lag in the target response speed department, though some of them are very quick on the recovery side...

    I.D. Segmenting of the Xterra-30

Larry (IN) did a post on the X-30 back on November 20 in which he had an illustration of the different I.D. segments and related targets, and I thought that was interesting enough to do something similar with my first tests of the same machine. So I took a good mix of already dug items running...

    MORE DEPTH !!

Just like many aspects of life, we all tend to get into our own little comfort zones. This is also the case when we settle upon a certain single or few machines or manufacturers, and I know I'm as gulity of that as others. It's really important to keep an open mind though in trying new machines...

    Have you ever noticed......

Whenever a new machine is offered up on the market, there seems to be a direct correlation between the volly of attacks against the new machine and the "threat" felt by manufacturers or users of other models or brands ? The more a new machine is blasted by other brand loyalists, the more I am...

    Accessory Coils ?

Has Minelab actually announced what size/frequency of coils they are planning for the XT-30/50 ? Ralph

Another Question on Xterra 50 Ground Balance and VDI

Has anyone done any experimenting with the X-50 as far as skewing the GB either to the high side (positive) or the low side (negative) to determine if it makes any noticeable difference in the VDI numbers ? Just curious. Ralph

    Xterra Specifications

Any comments or thoughts on the mention of "standard" vs. "enhanced" DEPTH between the model 30 and 50 in the Xterra specifications ? Most of the comments I've seen from testers seem to indicate a close match in performance between the two. Just curious. Ralph

    In Consideration of the Xterra-30

Personally, I had earlier looked at the Garrett Ace 250, along with the Fisher I.D. Excel, and thought to myself that I would like to see the two combined, something not much larger than a Tesoro, but incorporating a larger VDI screen with numeric reading, depth reading, a good notching system...
