    Hit a "Foreclosure" yard tonight....

Seeing way too many of those around these days but a sign of the times. Ok enuff on that subject on to the hunt. I had the Omega and G2 with me so first up was the G2.... which oddly enough did not like the neighborhood EMI at all..... a bit of a surprise. Anyway back to the car I went to...

Regarding the coil "problem" on the AT Pro

For my satisfaction would someone please gives the test a try. Hold the lower rod just above the coil firmly in your hand and wiggle the coil back and forth to see if it falses. Just a thought and probably wrong but perhaps the problem people are seeing is some torque flexing at the mounting...

Lake Michigan beach hunt with the G2

Today was the last chance for a few days for some 'decent' enough weather to head over to Lake Michigan and try out the G2 on the beaches. The temp was 40 deg F with a light breeze but it is going to get worse (snow) before it gets better so off I went. Starting off in all metal with the...

It was a cold autumn night as the referee stands at mid field with rain coming down

he makes the coin toss and ploosh the silver half disappears in the mud to lie there 40 years or so. Ok probably only my imagination at work but still possible. 1944 half TID 94/95... T-08 sens 85, d2 tones, disc 1, no Fe bars (as usual in my ground) and I forget the GB # ... forgive me this...

Old Depot site gives up Shield nickel

Don't find many of these in my neck of the woods, this is only my third one. Omega 8K sens 80, d2 tones, GB 73 and my fav 11" DD coil. [attachment 171334 823105c.jpg] [attachment 171335 823105cr.jpg] HH Tom

    EMI lessened

in my yard anyway. Over the weekend one side of the power coming into the house was dropping out intermittantlly as the wind blew. It's and overhead feed and I could see some arcing at the pole that feeds the house. Called the power company and after replacing the connections to the drop I...

    Gold rings and zinc memorials

Can you get repeatable data sweeping the targets a little further from the coil? Maybe that would give data more in line with actual field conditions. I think I would look at the signal strength relative to the freq instead of the phase . Tom

    Gold rings and zinc memorials

Confidence higher on rotten zincs than rings??? The analyze screen shows what freq hits hardest.. not the raw signal strength. The ground probe phase screen seems to capture more relevant target data, does it carry over on in ground targets? Rings are showing higher readings at 22.5...

    Unmarked White Gold?

I need to get a test kit, this is the second "gold" ring with no marking on the inside in the last year. Sz 10, 8mm wide, weighs 7 grams and reads as nickel on my ID machine. Having handled a 'few' rings In my day it seems 'right' to me. What do you good folks think? HH Tom [attachment...

No gold but got a big silver lady

She had a thick layer of black crust and I was afraid there would not be a lot of detail left underneath, but she ain't too bad after all those years in the water. [attachment 158521 2010-04-07004.jpg] HH Tom

Had to turn the sensitivity down on the Omega today

The Omega was running great with the sensitivy set at 95 with no EMI then started to get a little erratic. Thinking I should check the ground balance, when I switched over to AT the threshold tone was going in and out while sweeping the coil, I had never run into before. I don't know what the...

First big silver with the Omega

Got a nice sounding low 90's hit that pinpointed at 5". Dug a 53 Franklin half in very good condition that was nearly twice as deep as it read! Moral of the story, the pinpint depth is keyed to penny/dime sized targets, big silver will be deeper! HH Tom

So... is the G2 going to kick X5 Butt???

I know Dave had a hand in the X5 but it was designed to Troy's specifications. X5.. small iron disc was either on or off no inbetween if you want to dig small jewelry you have to dig nails and bobby pins. G2.. if it has iron resolution of the T2 / Omega and with the sliding tone break it...

Ring number two from the North Country..

Headed out yesterday morning to a different beach on the same lake the Platinum band came from. It had been hunted hard last summer/fall so there weren't many signals to dig. As I reached the end of the beach area I started to hit some signals and then this one showed up in the scoop. 4.6...

    First ring of the year!!

I have been hunting the beaches up here in Northern Michigan for a couple weeks and today I got my first ring of the year. I would have settled for gold for a 'first'. Rang up like a tab. What's up with square shank rings anyway? .53 troy oz. PT950, 14 Diamonds [attachment 155979...

Spring... and BLING... is in the air

What does it take to make a 57 year old crank up the music and head bang all the way home? How 'bout a little bling to make your day [attachment 155953 bling-03-17007.jpg] [attachment 155954 bling-03-17008.jpg] .53 troy oz. Plat 950 [attachment 155952 bling-03-17006.jpg] Oh yeah T-08

Recession detectors... What 'mid-priced' detectors you have used

would you be more than happy to have as your main unit in these tough times? Can be current or recent detectors that are still readily available in good condition. I know there are lots of you top end detector users out there that have a backup for friends or simply a detector that they turn to...

Hit some 'deeper' nickels with the Omega today..

I had wondered how it would do ID'ing nickels at depth and it does very good with consistent 54-55 readings. One in particular was well past 8" and still ID'd correctly. HH Tom

    First silver of the year

After spending several fruitless hours digging trash at the beach this morning I decided to swing by an old fairgrounds to see if the Omega could cough up an oldie or two. The fairgrounds is long gone having been replaced by sports fields. 30' behind second base I get this nice tight high tone...
