    Return to Indian country

Went back to the tobacco field again yesterday. Cliff found a real nice arrowhead and I found another coin. It was an 1865 Indian Head penny. Our kids also found some hide scrapers and some cats eye marbles. The penny was my oldest IH to date.

    Turkey seasons

Turkey hunting is open in a lot of states now and it would be a good idea to maybe wear flourescent orange hats and vests when detecting open fields and woods til seasons close. Keep it safe. HH

    Old lighter

My stepson found this a couple of days ago near an old barn. It was shallow so there was no damage when he uncovered it. It is an old Ronson Crown cigarette lighter. I guess maybe 1940's-50's. Any ideas as to age? Surprised the felt was still there. Probably because it was out of the weather in...

    My own yard finds today

Did a 30 min hunt in my yard this afternoon and found these. A 1902 Indian Head and a token. Don't know where the token is from. About the size of a half dollar. Appears to be made of aluminum. Got pleasantly interrupted by 6 long bearded turkeys strutting and gobbling across the road from me...

    TODAYS FINDS

My partner, FlynnDFX40, and I went to a Union outpost today and I came out with these finds. A bridle ring, a large copper spoon, and a rimfire Henry 44 cal. cartridge. Then the storms came. We will be back. Not much but beats nothing.

    Why the difference?

A friend and I use a map from the 1800's, my Garmin Etrex Legend, and Terraclient to locate old houses, stores, etc. to metal detect. Two days ago I was shown an old well where on old school once stood and took a reading on my GPS. It was: Lat 38.38296 and Long -84.20446. This was within 20 feet...
