The best( and most unexpected) find me and Dad have found all year.

Well, as far as coins go. Decided to get out today for a couple of hrs. First time in about a month. We went to a park that was probably built some time around the 1940s. And guess what the old man just happened to find?? A large cent!!!! First one he has ever found in almost 20 yr of MDing...

Well Pete, this bug didn't have as nice of a photo shot as yours did...

because these were its finally minutes. It somehow got its tail cut off which made it not be able to fly. I tried to put it on a plant, but it kept falling onto the side walk. Figured I'd take these photos before it completely died. After one last photo I put him/her onto a bush as far away from...

Had some problems with my camera today...

Its a Vivitar Vivicam X327. Not a top of the line camera. Around $80 bucks. Also I'm just in pic. taking for the memories. Wouldn't even call myself an ametuar. Went to an air show today, naturally I tried to take some photos of the planes. Quickly learned some flew way to fast, so I focused on...

    Found this on a sidewalk...

Some type of pendant. It says "His Princess" on the front of it. Also on the bottom of it it says either "C(with a circle around it)B5O or S( with a circle around it)B5O. Hard to tell exactly what it says because the letters are partially gone. Does the C or S in the circle mean anything when it...

    Frustrating day

Dad and I went to a park yesterday for a few hours to see how much we could find with the time we had. The hunt started off okay, but quickly started to go downhill. Within about 15 minutes of us being there a group of about 8 girls showed up and started to play on the nearby swings. Ages 3-8...

:biggrin:Garrett needs to have a recall on the dang 250s because...

of their color!!!(JUST KIDDING) Stupid bees are some how attracted to the color yellow. Guess they think it's a giant flower. They didn't land on me, but they sure did get close. Even when I was swinging the MD they were on or around the 250. And when I put the 250 down to dig a plug the bees...

    Yesterday's silver ring find:biggrin:

I didn't find the ring, Dad did:cry:. Found at the same playground we've been hunting(ever so slowly) for the last 2 weeks. First piece of jewelry we've found there. It says "True Love Waits" with dots between the words. He pulled the "I'll pull it out once we've finished counting our loot"...

    A thought about cleaning coins....

Can't help but notice that around the web many people are tumbling (rotary tumbler) older coins such as wheaties and Buffalo nickels. Now, I can't imagine cleaning wheaties and Buffalo nickels with anything other than some water and a toothbrush. My Dad always taught me that when you clean an...

    Question about a tumbler

The tumbler in the photo below is a Vibratory Tumbler that is sold at Harbor Freight. We've had it for about a year, but it has never really cleaned the coins we put into it. All its ever done is bang the dirt off of the coins and then deposit it onto the tumblers walls. What I want to know is...

    :hot:I wanted silver... and I got it!!!!:hot:

Dad and I went to 3 different sites today. Only one of them produced anything. Site #1: It was an overgrown playground that looked like it was very rarely used. Only notable finds that I found was a piece of a ring( not sure if it's silver or not) and about $0.12.:( My Dad only found a couple...

Some scenery along Highway 50 in Utah....

Appears that this areas a winter wasteland in the winter, and a desert in the summer. (Notice the plant life) Funny how the people who own the land along the highway have all those fences up, but yet theres nothing enclosed in them. Maybe that changes in the summer???

    Forgot I had these photos......

Photos taken along Highway 50 in Utah during December 2008. I've never been so close to the base of some of those mountains.

    My best finds so far.....

I found these rings in between April 2008 and now. Sorry if the photos are blurry, but I'm not very experienced in photo taking. I'll have to practice taking pictures some more. Any advice on pic taking would be appreciated. The first photo is of the gold class ring that I found near a...

Cwilk, and everyone else who has asked, PICTURE TIME!!!! (I hope)

This is just a test to see if I've figured out how to put a pic. on the forum(s). Had to make the size of the photo smaller in order to get it on the forum. This, is just a pic of a bunch of corroded or damaged coins we have laying around. This is the first pic I saw so I just picked it.

How do you post a photo on the forum???

I've tried to post photos on some of the forums before, but my photos are too big. Most of them are around 2 MB. I plan on installing a program to make them smaller. All I really want to know is how to get the photos on the forum once I've made them smaller. Isn't it as simple as copying and...

Skeleton of CW soldier found in construction site...:surprised:

I forgot to post about this when it happened a few months ago. This happened in Murrfreesboro, Tn, a town south of Nashville. I'm sorry, but I'm not a history guru, so some of this info. might be a little inaccurate. Also, the info isn't going to be very detailed when it comes to the history...

Searched through some rolls of pennies...

Dad bought a $10 box. He searched through all but seven of them and only found a 1958 wheatie and one common date Canadian penny. I searched through the last 7 and found 2 common date Canadian pennies, a 1953-d penny, and a 1898 Indian Head penny! Its not in the best of shape, but it still was...
