Was starting to get discouraged....BUT here is today's Nut

It has been a very dry last few weeks (besides the usual clad and a few Sterling 925 items including rings and chain/pendants) so I was becoming somewhat discouraged but remaining committed. With the recent mini nor'easter that rolled through here Thurs/Fri, the hunters have been out in force...

    jumped in with both feet

Ordered mine yesterday. Will be here tomorrow. Have Excal, so will be using the E-Trac as my first dirt detector plus checking it out against the Excal in the wet surf. Everything I have read and researched confirmed that the E-Trac was the right unit (vs. the V3) for: ease of use for a...

First land detector: X-t 70 versus 705 - your thoughts

Hello - I have an Excal that i use on the beach. Was looking into a mid-priced land machine. First looked at Teknetics Omega w/11" DD and now I was recommended to look at the X-t 70. Then I see that the 705 has added some improvements to the 70. I like the light weight as the wife can use it...

Headphone short - side opposite wire

Started with an intermittent cut out, now totally cut out of sound. Anyone have this? Wiggled all the wires - it seemed that the coil area made the sound come and go, and when on a target the sound came and went too... Anyone have any ideas? Off to Minelab by overnight - hopefully they have a...

Excal 2 - NiMH battery question

How often do you charge your battery, and does anyone ever let the battery completely discharge? Thanks.

    Hit it again. Got a 2fer today - 14k w/dia plus a titanium:cheers:

Skipped Saturday and went out Sunday to the major league beach here, Jones (where I got my last 2 beauties), - nothing found. The resident vultures were not happy to see a new rookie on their turf. One guy even walked along 10 feet near me (with his detector on) to try and intimidate me out of...

Hard to believe - 3 for 3 - this time 925 silver ring

OK OK - I know it's really dry out there, but this is 3 rings in 3 days after nothing for a month...(wife says I passed up everything 'cause I didn't know what I was doing and wasn't digging enough). I did have a good feeling for the day, when, after just arriving (and hitting the low tide line)...

post 2 of 2 - virgin no more

Just 5 minutes after that Nitro heart stopper.... It may not be the biggest or the prettiest, but, after detecting the last 6 outings with our local Obi-Wan Kenobi and none of us getting gold - this was a great first gold ring find - marked 14K. And Mr. Kenobi had passed right by the spot...

post 1 of 2 - you know the feeling....

As the ocean water sifted the sand out of my scoop and this beauty peered out at me (stuck halfway in the sand in my scoop) - in all of 3 seconds I thought about a trip to Colchester, England and a new E-Trac to go with it :wiggle:. I really thought it was one of those tennis bracelets - but...

3 hours on the beach at high tide....

15 pulltabs = zero dollars 9 bottlecaps = zero dollars 1 perfect brass hinge = $2.49 50 odd clad coins = $7.32 First Silver 1961 dime (in 7" of wet sand) = PRICELESS There's some things money can't buy - for everything else there's Minelab (Excal) If there was gold - I would have found it..........

    V3 and my oldest coin

FYI - I believe any coils you use on the V must be manufactured after Oct 2008 or they are not compatable with the V (per the White's website). Just a thought but maybe that is why DAVEMD didn't get the results he wanted on the 950 off his DFX...

    Second thoughts on the V3....

hi Jim thanks for the reply - are you hunting in wet sand or dry (to get that gold) and what program are you using on the V - salt beach?
