    What frequencies have you ran

That's exactly the reasoning behind "always on" AWD/4WD on cars.

Too Hot to metal detect in the water

Must be one of them 115 days, eh?

    Thanks to Nokta for Listening......

That's sample variability, and it always exists if you produce 2 or more of anything. It can be reduced, but it's always there (optics, electronics, cars, you name it). Some technologies have extremely small variability tolerance (for example, most microprocessors), but in general manufacturers...

    Put M3 into play…..

Does that bay have a submarine base? If so, that could be your ultimate source of VLF EMI.

    Put M3 into play…..

Perhaps it depends on the nature of EMI? In my neck of the woods, 6" is magnitudes quieter than stock. But I can imagine (hypothetically) something like a radar or VLF comms blinding both.

    Put M3 into play…..

Time to file a complaint with the FCC, this is not even remotely okay.

    Put M3 into play…..

Telecom maybe?… Either way, get a 6" coil, it's a godsend in high EMI areas.

Anyone do any water hunting with the Legend?

When I'm in pitch tone and submerged, yes. Somewhat helps with ID'ing fishing weights and, to a lesser degree, foil.

Anyone do any water hunting with the Legend?

I do, with Nokta's wired headphones. Works just fine neck deep and up to light snorkeling, no leakages. Haven't tried it with hookah rig yet, maybe next year.

    How to defend yourself

Sidearm, hi-viz vest, and everyone (including cops) automatically assumes that you're working a crime scene. Deep in the woods, different story – people in camo will be emerging from the bushes and having a friendly chat with you. Once the friendliness is established, their friends with long...

    How to defend yourself

I meant "stand your ground", sorry for another brain fart. Perhaps I should give forum comments two brain cells instead of just one… o_O That's why AOJP is the best "safety" mechanism a civilian could have, as it keeps it simple – simple enough for Unga Bunga that takes your body over in a...

    How to defend yourself

We're civilians here, not cops (well, at least most of us), so Use of Force Continuum does not apply. We have absolutely no legal or moral obligation to use "less lethal". AOJP (Ability-Opportunity-Jeopardy) applies instead, as well as Castle Doctrine (in states that have it). But that's in the...

    How to defend yourself

Another consideration, which often overlooked, is becoming incapacitated while out of cellphone range (if you're detecting remote sites). Carry a PLB or satellite pager when detecting alone, folks.
