    Another stinking King George II

Just kidding... Of course I am happy I found it at the old Dutch Stone house today. I also found a nice big button only an inch below the surface. A 1944 war nickle, 1902 indian head and a 1756 King George II. Along with three wheat cents. It was a good morning.

Coins and other things that may have been in a pocket I can understand stand. But buckles, how? Why? Did our forefathers frequently get somewhere and then say "oh dear, I must have lost my belt buckle along the way" I can understand saddle and harness buckles being lost since we are not...

Minelab announced new advanced Procoils for CTX

The coils onboard circuitry provides a 3d rendering of what the object under the surface is and then displays it on the CTX's screen. No word yet on what the cost will be or availability date. ;-)

    it's pouring out side

But that's not going to stop me. That's one of the things I love about the CTX. It's nice being out there- the sound of the rain falling, no crunchy leaves. I have permission to detect an old Quaker meeting house that was discontinued in the 18 sixties it has produced so many great coins...

    One stinking large cent..

Just kidding. I am happy I found it. Unfortunately it is probably a braided hair and not another Draped Bust like the two I found the other day just a few feet away from this one. The one Draped is 1800. The other one I can't tell.

Going out, ground may be diggable

Here in the mid Hudson Valley I just might have a chance of breaking through some crusty earth. Some spots are still frozen an inch below ground while others I could slide my shovel in without a proble. This winter I found a small old dump off the beaten trail that had some antique bottles...

Large Cent waited 200 years to come back to the surface:minelab:

Like last year this winter has so far been pretty mild in the Mid Hudson Valley. I hear we have some cold coming in next week, but until that happens I am going to take advantage of this nice weather. Today I went out to "Ye old Mill' site down the road from me and was awarded with bottle caps...

A 1787 NJ Nova Cesarea copper, an 1848 large cent and a silver pocket spill with half dollar included!

A friend of our family owns an 1824 farm house and 58 acres of land across the street from there that was the site of a mill in the early and mid 1800's. Unfortunately almost all of those acres was gravel mined sometime mid last century and so the terrain looks nothing like it used to. Yesterday...

    Old hand dug well detecting

Hello All At one of the properties I detect I came upon a solid looking field stone lined well. It is in an odd place off to the side of a field where no houses are known to have existed. Has anyone ever tried digging out an old well like that? It is probably about ten feet deep and large enough...

Coin wrapped in foil still gave a signal

I made it out this morning to a place I have previously detected with the E-trac but this morning I was trying a different part of the property. I found two Mercury dimes and silver Roosevelt along with numerous deeper Wheat cents and shallow clad. One Mercury had an iffy signal but I dug it...
