    V3i Depth for newbies

I run Magics program and use 3 frequency. I routinely get 8-9 inches, down to a dime sized target, regardless of its orientation in the ground. This program also uses 5 band filter. Switching to single frequency(for me 7.5 or 2.5, most areas I hunt either works fine)I can gain another inch in...

    VX3 Newbie

Since your primary goal is Parks and Schools, I would follow Rob's advice and get a used V3i, also hoping a good used deal would include the 4x6 sniper coil and perhaps the 6x9 elliptical. Typically even the used ones come with the cordless headphones which are very nice with the freedom of not...

    Tx Boost

Please be aware that using Transmit Boost quickly drains your battery pack. What I have done on really deep targets that the VDI is jumpy is use it only to help stablilize the VDI for a momentary reading, then turning it back off. I have it set on my 'Live Controls' for easy access. Some others...

First Real Outing With My V3i...

Marc, Larry's feedback regarding pinpoint bars showing different for screw caps is spot on. That is the method I use as well and rarely dig one. For those that read a bit different due to decomposition, ground minerals or adjacent targets you can activate the bottle cap reject but I don't like...

Got My New (to me) V3i Today!

Welcome to the V3i Marc and to this Forum. I have been a long time user of Whites Detectors and I like you, found the V3I "not intimidating" at all. I previously owned the Eagle Spectrum, XLT and DFX detectors and they were all menu driven so my learning curve was pretty small. I will say...

Finding when more is too much

My suggestion had to do with increasing the accepted negative VDI targets in discrimination mode from the stock coin program Southwind mentioned. That will increase depth. On my DFX and on my V3i when I accept further down into negative VDI numbers my depth does increase. Have tested that on my...

Finding when more is too much

Most guys I know only use Boost mode when they had to reduce RX gain due to poor ground conditions in an attempt to improve target signal. I have yet to use it other than just to test for improved signal like you at higher RX Gain settings. I wonder what would happen to your depth and signal in...

    V3 video part 2

Excellant video's Bill. Your digs are very clean and plug sizes small as well. You also clean up well after yourself which really helps all of us keep our hobby alive!!:detecting: Looks like you are doing quite well with the V3.:clapping:

    Royal GT headphones

You can also try the Radio Shack wireless earbuds along with a right angle 1/4" adapter for the headphone jack. The Radio Shack earbuds run about $79.00. I bought a set for my DFX and can also use them on my V3i. Sometimes when it is really hot outside I use the wireless earbuds on the V3i...

Discrim nails, or Zero the audio?

My mistake, for some reason I thought the 5 tone setting would impact using pinpoint for manual ground balance. I forgot about the all-metal mode - DUH! Thanks for clearing my old mind. Question, If discriminate is turned off and you use the 0 audio setting to replace discriminated targets...

new V3i coil sounds off when bumped?

I had a similar problem with my D2 and 6x10 coils. Using my friends coils to troubleshoot revealed both of my coils to be the culprit. Sent them back to Whites with a full explanation. 5-6 weeks later I recieved two brand new coils. Have not had that problem since.

Discrim nails, or Zero the audio?

I run my programs to have the rejected VDI's use a 5 tone instead of zero. This was based upon Magic's program. I think the main reason Magic set his that way was due to having LOCK TRACK turned on so a manual balance is required periodically. If you have the rejected VDI's set at zero it makes...

Hi everyone, New guy with a V3i .....

Youre doing great already. Using the stock prograns is a good place to start. When you feel you are ready to try a custom program, try Magic's program listed on this website. Congratulations on the V3i and the swell start you have had.

Here is why you MUST dig those deep, "iffy" signals!

Wow Neal!! What an awesome find. In Indiana I could only dream of a find like that. Way to go!

    Wheres Magic the v3i Guru?

I hunted with Doug a week ago. He is still around, just not posting. He still is the master on the V3i as far as I am concerned. Everytime we go out he beats the pants off of me. Experience with a great machine and an uncanny ability to find stuff makes one a master! Our last hunt: Doug-1...

    Weight- V3i

Thanks Rob for the pictures. The DFX and the DFX300 pictured have the 950 coil, but the weight differance would be the 12" coil on the DFX300 that is standard on it not shown in this picture. I guess the weight differance on the V3i then is the D2 coil and the larger pod. The batteries on the...

    Weight- V3i

I think the standard coil for the DFX is the 950 coil and the DFX300 is the 12" concentric. The standard coil on the V3i is the D2. I believe if you equiped the DFX with the D2 the weight would be almost identical. Somebody correct me if I am wrong. The V3i could most likely be lightened by...
