    Moved Meteor Men

Well it looks like they moved Meteor Men to 9:PM on Wednesday. I'll have to start recording it, I'll go to sleep otherwise. And, Jesse Ventura's show was nowhere to be found, (7:PM on "TRU" on the Bird) Anyone know anything about this? No detecting here. Rain, Rain Rain, everyday day...

    Meteor Men... :surprised:

Anyone watch the new series last night called "The Meteor Men" ??? It was pretty good. They used several metal detectors in the mid-west to find meteorites they valued at $100,000 or more each. I think I'll start looking at those "hot rocks" I find in streams a little more closely. You...

    Compadre Schematic

Does anyone have or have info on a schematic and or a layout diagram or leads to finding that data for a Tesoro Compadre. Must be late version (4.1) with the 5.75" coil. Any information or leads would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.....

Sorry, no tone change for Compadre :nopity:

At least the late ones (rev 4.1) (probably at least those with the 5" coils) This board is surface technology, only, on active devices. There's no CD 4024 chip with diodes on pins 5,6,9 . Foiled again Batman. I think I'll go eat a damn bug :biteme:

    Camera Question..........

I'm looking at a Panasonic DMC-FP8K at Costco for $179. To be used on detecting outings and for photoing finds. Anyone out there have a feel for this camera????? Any data appreciated. Thanks, Ron.

    The Littlest Compadre, Mods

Hi. This is probably the smallest you can get a Compadre, noting in my opinion, you don't need a arm support on a 2 pound detector. ADVISE, the first thing you should do when you open up one of these detectors is photo the wires coming from the headphone jack to the PC board. They are VERY...

    Tot Lot question.....

A question or two for you guys that work Tot lots a lot. Where do you find most of your good rings? Are they deep or mostly close to the surface? How about older coins there. Are they deep as you'd expect, or shallow, like they'd been dropped in the last year or two? Any info will be...

    REALLY BIGG QUESTION

Here's a really BIG QUESTION..........! from the schematic shown, can any of you engineer types tell me which I.C. is the TONE oscillator for the detector (Compadre)? Not the Loop Oscillator. I'd like to play around changing the freq up a bit. Thanks, Ron.

5.7 " wide Scan coil for uMax

Anyone know if above is available for Silver uMax? Has anyone used one on the Silver? May have been discussed before, but that coil should allow the operator to get closer to objects than the concentric. It probably won't I.D. as well, but the Silver doesn't I.D. anyway. Your opinions will...

    impedance mis-match

My electronics background is mainly in RF, with some digital, but very limited AF. My question is this; I read here and there that some think it's better to use 500 ohm headphones on metal detectors instead of low-impedance ones. They mention no limiter is needed with them. From my limited...

    He..He...He...He! It got here :clap::clap::clap:

It's already tiny, and light......wow! Hey a 90 pound puker girl, could swing it all day long without getting a sore arm, FANTASTIC :lmfao: It did come with a factory flaw, the wiggle limiter on the coil wire was broken. When it's finished, a little Goober glue will fix it  I...

    TODAY'S THE DAY

Yes sir  My new Compadre is "out for delivery" I guess the first thing I'll do is re-rod it. You know, so I can "wad it up" and stick it in a small little box. I'll test it first  Don't wanta get caught with my pants down, you know :yikes: Next will be to install plugs on...

    Which is right

There are two schematics found on the Internet for the Compadre. One shows a red line coming from the output of an I.C. to a switch then to the base of bipolar xsistor. The second does't show the wire at all. Anyone know which is correct? Thanks, Ron.

    Silver uMax (Micro-match)

I've searched high and low for a photo of a Silver uMax coil plug that shows the plug pins well. Does anyone have a Url to a photo? Or, can anyone tell me if the Fisher F75 uses the same plug? Any help appreciated, thanks, Ron.

    Coil info please

Two part question; 1. will a Lobo ST coil, plug into a Silver Umax? 2. Does anyone know the wire color code for the coil plugs? Ae, "pin 1-black, etc. I want to make my Compadre coil detachable and would like it to be compatible with other Umax coils. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

It was tough, I mean really tough.....

To decide between a Silver Umax, and a Compadre. I just now got on E-bay and ordered the Compadre, here's why............ One; I wanted the 5.75" coil, Silver comes with an 8" coil. Two; 90 bucks cheaper plus I would have had to layout another 50+ for a 5.75" coil. Three; I want a super...
