    Why don't the new machines have GPS?

    I use an older Garmin Montana 680 when I want to check coverage while detecting. I also use it to access some of the remote woods/trail sites. I have been checking our WWII POW Camps and CCC Camps and it does come in handy getting to them as some are really remote woods and abandoned towns.

    Advice on a hand held

    Why not get a detector that you can use both on land and in deeper water? The Deus II can be used with a shortened rod and the 8 inch coil. Many have videos using it that way... Congrats on your recent retirement... :usaflag::usaa::cheers:

    Some people hunt, others HUNT! The difference is in the HUNTER, rather than the roamers. Good find. A HUNTER could have found it with a old Radio Shack machine.

    Which one to buy?

    I have also been looking. Found a couple that are tube mounted with rechargeable batteries as well as those that have to be boat mounted or set on shore. Will be interesting to see the comments you get..
