    Remember that most paints are chemical and will react (or not) with the plastic. May be good for some time but can break the housing, too. Even little hairline crack will be possible and the invading water will cause stress. I like fwcrawfords advice. So I'd never paint a coil or buy a painted one.

    Hello mikezap. When you enterd the master-reset process did you select the top-4 items (All Programs, Common, Library, All Other)? This will set the detector to factory defaults.

    Yup. To me the SOLDAPULLT desoldering tools are also the best ones money can buy. Durable, easy to use and to clean, and they sell a lot of spare parts. But the best is, it works to my satisfaction. Using mine at home for 18+ yrs. May be your Vampire Tool will be equal, Techbill.
