    Never used one. I personally would move on. there are lots of great units in the 2-300 $ range that will provide a great experience for you and your grandson. The Minelab X-terra pro series is one that comes to mind.

    50 plus detecting here as well and still looking for an American gold. I have been fortunate enough to have found one hammered and multiple Celtic golds in the U.K., still quite the rush. Hope to compare the rush to an American Au!
