The old city park gives up another large one.

Only hunted for about an hour this afternoon before my battery died but made the best of the three coins I dug. 1919-S wheatie, 1906 indian head cent and then a worn large cent that came from the same area where I dug all the 2 cent pieces a couple of weeks ago. Another very deep target, at...

A few more from the old city park.

Got out this morning for a couple hours. First good dig was a mercury dime and when I stuck my probe back in the hole, got another high tone and pulled out a second mercury dime. There was a small iron nail in the spoils pile so I guess that masked the dimes enough to keep them from being dug...

One last keeper from my hot spot

Since most of the coins I have been digging at this spot seem to be from 1862-1865, today's lone find would make sense. Another very deep find, at least 8-9" down. A 1863 George Washington New York civil war token. Most of the civil war tokens I dig are store cards so it was nice to get a...

A Few more from my hotspot

After digging two V nickels and a Buffalo nickel the other day, I thought I had my hot spot in the old city park cleaned out. Gave it one last try today and came away with a 1870 Canadian silver 5 cent "fish scale", 1859 Canadian large cent ,1865 indian head penny, 3 wheat cents and an old...

Two cent piece #4 and other finds from this morning.

Can two cent lightning strike again ? It sure can ! Back to the spot where I dug the 3 two cent pieces yesterday to see if I left any good targets behind. First good target was a crusty Indian head cent. Next I dug a nice old flat button. Followed that up with a school bus token. Then I got an...

The Old SE Pro is on Fire !

Great day in the old park. Hit one of the pounded, hunted to death Albany City parks this afternoon. Started off slowly with only a 1907 Indian head cent after the first hour. Moved to an area where I dug a nice War of 1812 button years ago and that's when things started to heat up. First good...

Road trip to Jeff in Mass Seated Park

My detecting buddy Tony (Park Pirate) and I took a three hour drive yesterday to do some detecting with Jeff in Mass at his "Seated Park" in South East Massachusetts. I was using my trusty Se Pro while Jeff and Tony utilized the Equinox models. We had a great time swinging for about 9 hours...

XP Deus trio nets Colonial Coppers

Got out this morning with my detecting buddies Tim and Angelo and hit a freshly cut corn field we never detected before. All three of us are now using the XP Deus. In a small overgrown area around what appeared to be a cellar hole we dug seven old coppers. Tim struck first with a nice Fugio cent...

    Colonial kind of Day

Got out this morning with my detecting buddies Tim and Angelo and hit a freshly cut corn field we never detected before. I love my Explorer SE - Large copper this morning

Went back to the same area of the park where I dug the three indian head cents the other day and came away with a nice 1853 large cent this morning. A very deep hit that bounced around the upper right corner of the smart screen. After not doing well park hunting for 3-4 months with my new XP...

    Large copper find this morning.

Went back to the same area of the park where I dug the three indian head cents the other day and got lucky with a nice 1853 large cent. A very deep signal that bounced around the upper right corner of my Explorer's smart screen. From at least 10" down I pulled out this large cent. Over the...

Put away the XP Deus and gave the old Explorer SE Pro a go today

Just can't get the hang of the XP in the old trash filled city parks so I switched back to my reliable SE Pro. Realized it had switched back to factory presets so I had to reprogram it to get the results I wanted. Once I did, the good old deep signals started coming through. First good find was...

A trio of Indian head cents including a fattie and semi-key.

Found a little hot spot in the hunted out city park and dug these three deep indian head cents this morning. 1863 fattie, 1868 and 1901. Finally have my trusty Explorer Se Pro settings back to where they need to be ! This shot was after a hot peroxide bath for the 1868 and 1901 cents.

    Battery life question

How long should a full charge last when not in use ? I ask because after fulling charging mine and hunting for only a few hours and turning controller off, If I go to use it 4-5 days later, the battery is totally dead. Is that normal or do I have a battery problem ? Thanks...
