First good finds with the new XP Deus.

Been out a couple of times with the new XP Deus. First impression, it hits real good on large iron items like horse shoes. Still have to get used to the numbers where different targets hit. After using my Minelab Explorer for the last 15 years, It will take some time. Love the light weight of...

Should have my new XP Deus this coming week.

Finally decided to pull the trigger on purchasing a new XP Deus. After using Minelab Explorers for the past 17 years, I'm looking forward to the change. Can't wait to start posting some finds once things thaw out here in Upstate NY.

    Got an old one today.

Got out with my buddy Tim today and hit some colonial farm fields that were recently cut. First great signal turns out to be a Lincoln Memorial penny ! Then a nice nickel signal that I hoped would be a Shield nickel, but no, it was a modern Jefferson nickel ! Tim dug a 1901 V Nickel and then we...

1st Find of the Year and a New Goal !

On November 13, 1987 I dug my first Indian head cent, dated 1893, with my brand new White's 6000 Di Pro at Swinburne Park in Albany, New York. Today I dug my 945th Indian head, dated 1888, in Lincoln Park in Albany with my trusty Minelab Explorer SE Pro. So I have set a goal to reach #1000 by...

Annual end of year clad for silver exchange !

Every January I head to the coin star machine to exchange my Explorer dug clad coins, nickels and pennies found during the previous year. I had a poor year digging clad with only $64.00 l but I was able to boost my totals by including the proceeds by selling two dug Albany, NY dog tax tokens...

Second two cent piece of the year.

Got in a quick 90 minute hunt before some rain showers sent me packing. Dug a 1915-S wheatie, 1888 and 1907 indian head cents before I got lucky and pulled this nice 1864 two cent piece. Second one this year, both are 1864's and both from the same park. Just wish I would dig one without the...

    Today's surprise three cent piece

Met up with Park Pirate this morning at our favorite hunted out park. Was lucky to score a few coins. First good find was a 1907 V nickel with a wheat cent stuck to it. Later on I got lucky when I dug a deep signal that hit on the smart screen where modern screw caps usually hit. I was quite...

Dug a couple of indian head cents today.

After watching BRATNY dig that 1877 indian head cent over the weekend, it gave me renewed hope that maybe there is one out there waiting for me. Was lucky to squeeze these two out of the city park today. A nice 1904 that should clean up beautifully and maybe one that was an 1877 at one time, but...

First silver of the year and other finds.

Got out yesterday with Park Pirate and BRATNY at one of our hunted to death city parks. While Butch was digging his find of a lifetime (1877 indian head cent) all I could manage was a 1901 indian head cent and a crusty Buffalo nickel. Had a little better luck today with 1866 and 1883 indian head...

    Got a few this afternoon.

Got out late today for a quick hunt before the crappy weather arrives later tonight. Was lucky and ended up with a double war nickel plug, a Canadian Queen Victoria large cent and a nice 1863 civil war token.

On the board...First finds of 2016

Got out with Park Pirate over the weekend for the first hunt of the year. Didn't get much but it sure felt good to get out there after the long Winter break. Did manage a nice 1935 Buffalo nickel, a crusty Buffalo that needs some cleaning and three wheat cents (1914-1927-S and 1938 ). Park...

    Last hunt of 2015

With our first snowfall of the season on the way tonight, I figured I'd better get out this afternoon for one last hunt. Grabbed the Explorer and headed to one of the old reliable city parks. In a quick one hour hunt I was lucky enough to score a nice 1903 indian head cent and a 1929 Buffalo nickel.

Annual clad exchange and Christmas Eve First

Cashed in my 2015 pile of clad and ended up with just shy of $120.00. So off to the coin show to turn it into something with a little more shine. Purchased two 2015 US silver eagles and a generic five ounce silver bar. The Christmas Eve first was taking advantage of today's record shattering 71...

Some finds from the dead zone !

Met up with Park Pirate this morning in an area of the park we call the "dead zone" for the lack of finds there. We've pounded that area the last few weeks and dug a ton of old nickels, some indian head cents and a couple of silver coins. I really thought we sucked every last coin out of there...

3 nickel pocket spill saves the day !

Met up with Park Pirate this morning to get in some hunting before the heat, humidity and rain moves in this afternoon. Pickings were slim with just a hem weight and an old military button in the pouch when I get a deep, iffy nickel signal. The previous 20 solid nickel signals yielded nothing...
