    Manticore loves iron

I have said that in quite a few of my posts. The Manticore loves iron. It mostly comes down to tone. And a bit of TDI. I have to agree with Woody about getting a great tone. Something I don't ever remembering with the Equinox was a tone so smooth and round sounding and it turned out to be a...

Manticore Recovery in Heavy Iron and Trash

4 old silvers from my German field hunts

Nice old silvers, congrats. I think my oldest is 1886. Would love to dig some silver from the 18th century. Good luck.

4 old silvers from my German field hunts

I remember the Chinook, flew on them a few times. Was with the 41st FA in Babenhausen. Just a faded memory now. Wish I was into Md'n back then.

    No wall adapter included....

Ahh reviving an old thread. I remember when the Equinox was announced at Detectival 2017 and was the first or one of the first to have an internal battery. I was all worried about run time and battery life. Didn't like the idea of gagetry, the very thought of not being able to just change the...

    manticore

fwcrawford. Good evening.Thank you. No sir, I use the 9in.coil and quite honestly I don't see me using the stock coil again unless I would get permission to hunt an open farm field. The depth with the 9 is quite impressive. I hit and Ihp at a good 11 in. down and an SLQ pretty close to the same...

    Legend

I have a Legend with a little over a hundred hours on it. It has the carbon fiber shaft, the LG 30 coil. Latest update. Bought in Sept. of 23 so still some warranty left. Very good condition. $ 475 shipped to the lower48. Paypal F&F. I also have the factory wireless headphones I will throw in...

    manticore

Pete, I answered but let me elaborate. All my silvers have come from these 2 parks, the majority from the older park. To include a Walker, a type 1 SLQ, 2 Seated dimes, 4 Barber dimes, a bunch of Merc dimes, 2 GWs and a half dozen war nickels. And all have been with the Manticore. The first Merc...

    manticore

I'm not so sure Sube. After hunting the same parks, the same area's, I did pretty good with the silver, Ihps wheats, tokens and old nickels with the 800 when I started hunting those parks in 2018. I would average 15- 20 silvers and a fair amount of other old keepers. Fast forward to Dec. 22. I...

Big Silver / Sterling Boy Scouts Ring / Skeleton Key & Others

You don't post often Dave but when I see one from you I know its going to be good. Outstanding group of finds as usual and a hearty attaboy for the effort. One area I lack is research so feel free to share if you will. You seem to have transitioned from the Etrac to the D ll seamlessly and...

Emi / chatter what to do..??

Tom, if using a Manticore or 900 you have the option of the long noise cancel. Single frequency is what I did when I used the 800. Also Field 2 will run much more stable than Park 1. Small coil is good also. With the 800 I used the 6in. , had no problem hitting 9-10 inch dimes in fair ground...

    La muneca treasure of colorado

Sorry if I seem cynical but this is the world we live in. Mock, belittle, no, pointing out what I perceive is naivete on your part. Yes. No matter how well your intentions there are those out there will seek to profit from your discovery. Good luck.

    La muneca treasure of colorado

And you're telling us WHY ? !!!!! I wouldn't say a word about it now or ever. Do you really need an attaboy that bad ? You're inviting a boat load of heartache. Good luck.

    Gratifying Sunday Hunt

Congrats on the pair of Mercs, Buffs and the wheat harvest Dan. My last hunt was the first this year I had to call due to the heat. Strictly morning hunts for me till fall. Good luck using the 9 in. coil, I've been quite happy using it. Very light, even with the R&B battery pack I can swing it...

    3rd hunt with new Manticore

north1 I run ATLC in 5 tone. Rec. 7 Sens. 28. I could run higher but I don't see the need. I hit dimes and small nails in the 8 to 10 in. range quite often. The average depth for the older coins is in the 5 to 7 in. range. Using a recovery speed below 4 will elongate or stretch the signal to...

    3rd hunt with new Manticore

North1 good write up and congrats on squeaking a few more keepers from a well pounded site. I find I forget to check the 2D screen myself. However as I dig most mid-tones I find I'm using it more and more. Also, agree, realtime pinpointing is a nice feature. I also have found my plugs seem to be...

I was wrong about the Manticore.

Congrats on the Buff. I also dug a Buff yesterday with red line under the #s, a 24-25. Not sure how accurate the red line is. I've dug many a nickel with them and a ton of iron that didn't show it. I will usually pop the plug and rescan, if the signal falls apart it junk, if it holds it is...

    Question??

One of the complaints when the 800 hit the U.S. in Feb. of 18 was its narrow Id range. The ability to distinguish between a penny and a dime was also lacking and hasn't gotten any better with the newest round of SMF detectors. The coin Id on the 900 you would learn quickly with a few air tests...

    Equinox factory reset

Ted, I remember on some hunts the 900 was unstable and it seemed like it would have trouble locking on to a signal. Not sure if you subscribe to the theory of silent EMI but that is what I blamed it on. Lowering the sensitivity to 20 or so usually helped. Never really tried the long noise cancel...
