    Nice looking coil...

    Spectra V3i - water resistency

Per someone at Whites, I don't remember who... the only weak point as far as waterproof on the V3 are the battery door and the coil connector. I'd think a sanswich bag and a litle tape over the back of the box and maybe some teflon tape around the coil connector should really protect you and if...

    nice weather bad day

Lower the RX a little and turn tone ID off. Maybe take the time to set 4 tones. Stay off HiPro or any mixed mode until you're more comfortable... but I think turning off tone ID will really help you. Maybe raise the recovery speed, somewhere around 45-50 and try shifted tone. That way you gan...

    Filters, Sweep Speeds and Depth

I agree and it is why I just find a target at the site to use for adjustments. The detector does not care if it is a pulltab, a little piece aluminum, or a coin. J

    Filters, Sweep Speeds and Depth

EMS... I pay no attention to my sweep speed because I figure it is not something that I want to be thinking about all the time when I am hunting. I had to do that with the Sovereign and with the Explorer to a lesser degree and didn't like it. So, I usually don't bury a target at a site but I...

Anyone have any thoughts on the 8.5 HOT coil?

I have a Tejon and am thinking about adding a Vaquero and maybe an older Tesoro. I have the stock coil and a 5.75 that is unmarked but black. It was supossed to be a HOT coil, that is what I ordered but it was a long time ago and really, I don't remember who I bought it from... anyway... I was...

Is a Vaquero basically a Cibola with AM and a ground balance knob?

It looks like the Cibola GB mod basically turns the Cibola into a Vaquero. Add a GB knob and threshold based AM to a Cibola and you have a Vaquero, right? So if a Cibola is really good, a Vaquero should be great! If you like ED-120 and you have ED-180 couldn't you just turn the disc up a bit and...

Did anyone else see the battle of the birds last night (Thursday Night Football)??

What a great game. Falcons vs Ravens. The Falcons led until the Ravens pulled one point ahead with 50 seconds left... I thougt it was over for sure but the Falcons went down the field in about 40 seconds to a TD!!! Then kicked off to the Ravens, the guy ran it out of the endzone wasting 4 secs...

An idea for making good finds with the V3....

Most people get frustrated around picnic tables because there is something like a shield of pulltabs and bottlecaps. I got this idea from a friend who was going to use it at a park... then I got to thinking about picnic tables where the tabs are thick. I wonder if running the V3 in 22.5...

    You gotta love modern technology....

i'm not selling this, i'm just posting it for fun... I think you'll see... I mean, come on this picture looks like something from popular electronics circa 1957. http://cgi.ebay.com/You-can-build-UNDERWATER-METAL-DETECTOR-Plans-/190453922891?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c57f03c4b Julien I...

just want to tell you V3I owners what a superb piece of machinery this is!

Well, that is sort false advertising isn't it? I think I would have to add a disclaimer if I were selling something adversised as an accessory to something, all the while knowing that it has potential problems... I could not make money that way. Honesty is more improtant than money, at least in...

just want to tell you V3I owners what a superb piece of machinery this is!

I orederd one (12x10) and sent it back because it said on the box, MXT, DFX, and (maybe) M6. It did not say Spectra or V3. However, I also got, in the same order an 8x6 SEF. It did say on the box that is was for the Spectra... so I assume that it is. It seems to work just fine. I had also...

    Had a V3 converted into a V3i, which other coil 2 buy??

A lot of people like the 5.3 or the 950. My ground is mineralized and I hunt a lot of trashy sites so I like the 4x6 but I really like the SEF 8x6. Not knowing where you hunt i'd think that you'd want the 5.3 J

just want to tell you V3I owners what a superb piece of machinery this is!

The V3/V3i are in the same league with the E-TRAC/SE. Those two (or four) machines are top of the heap for VLF detectors. I don't think either one will spank the other except in the hands of an experienced users who really knows their machine... but put a V3i and an E-TRAC in the hands of good...

A question of detectors.... what to keep/what to sell

This is not meant as a comparision so forgive me for mentioning another FTP detector but I would like some input from you on deciding what to do... I have two Teknetics and a Fisher. I don't think I need all three. I have an F75 LTD, a T2, and an Omega-8000. My ground is medium to medium high...

    publicity advice needed

I hate to be the one to say it but... be very careful what you say. Think about every word, every sentence. Reporters are well known to take part of a sentence out of context and make people look like they are saying something completely different from what they are saying. You may do a 30...
