    Compadre Hunt

I went dirt fishing this morning after finding a small park in a remote area of town. It was in an older neighborhood. At first I was pretty unhappy to discover that the tot lot was covered in astro-turf. But the parking lot was all dirt and sand and I know that's a pretty good place to hunt...

    Bought A DeLeon!

I have owned several detectors over the past few years, and keep selling them and coming back to Tesoro's. For the last few months, I have used the Compadre exclusively. Its an amazing little tone machine. :jump: But I wanted to give a TID detector a chance, just to see how they fare. Well, I...

If you notch out bottle caps, what else would you end up notching out in the process?

    Coil Opinions Please

So I am very, very seriously considering shelling out the big bucks and buying a V3. I am going to do a lot of hunting in trashy areas so I need a smaller coil in addition to the stock coil. I see White's makes a 5.3" round coil and a 4x6 shooter. Is there any preference out there as to which...

    Sovereign & Coiltek

I know that a lot of people like the 12" WOT coil for their Sovereigns at the beach. How about the Coiltek 4x6 "Joey" coil for trashy areas like parks? Has anyone used this coil and how do you like it?

    Compadre Hits Big Gold!

Wow. What a day! My metal detecting club was having a Poker Hunt this morning at a county park. I had never detected there before, so I got there a bit early to do a little personal hunting outside the seeded area. While most of my was spent on the Poker Hunt, I found .47 in clad on my own...

    Ace 350 First Impressions

I was only able to take the 350 out for a very short half hour hunt today in a local park. This was my first time using the detector and didn't know what to expect. I also used the Sniper coil instead of the stock DD coil on this first outing since I spent most of my time in the tot lot...

    Bought An Ace 350

I've heard so much about the Ace series I decided to get one just to see how it does. I got the 350 for that little extra kHz and I want to see how that DD coil performs. I also got the Sniper coil for those tot lots and trashy areas. If anyone has any advice to pass along, my ears are open...

    G2 At The Beach

In searching this forum, I've noticed several members talking about the performance of the G2 at salt water beaches as being outstanding. Has this been everyone's experience (those of y'all who live near a beach, I mean), even in wet sand? Would love to hear more!

Anyone Ever Hear Of A "Jewelry Dump"??

I've heard of coin dumps, but never a jewelry dump. Took the Scorpion for its first outing this week. Went to a flea market site that just had an antiques fair going on the weekend before. All that potential for fresh drops sure sounded promising. Didn't find much in the way of coins...

First Air Test of the Scorpion!

Ok, I know you experienced users are just gonna smile, but let the new guy gush for a moment. :bouncy: I just bought my Scorpion on Friday and assembled it today. I set it up in Auto Mode & Motion Discrimination to do a little air testing. Holy cow, am I impressed! No wonder John Edmunton...

    Joined the Scorpion Club

Well, finally decided on my next detector and picked it up yesterday. I got the Scorpion. I was all set to get a TID machine, but I kept asking myself if the screen was going to tell me anything more than the tones would. After discrimination is set, if it beeps I'm going to dig it...

    Upgrade...But To What???

Hey Everybody. I have a small dilemma. Pardon this rambling post. I'm tired. I used to primarily beach hunt and I have a separate detector for that, so the beach isn't the issue. My problem is with the land detector. I used to hunt primarily in tot lots and used my Compadre for that. But I've...

    Someone Convince Me...

Is the Cortes really worth the $200 more price tag over the DeLeon? And do you think the Golden uMax can hold its own against them? Hope I don't spark a war here...

    505 vs. 705

A little torn and would like your opinions. Coin and jewelry hunting exclusively. Land hunting only (already have a beach detector); parks and schoolyards, etc. Which would be the better setup? The 505 with the 6" 18.75 kHz coil -or- The 705 gold pack with the 5x10 DD 18.75 kHz coil? Or...

    AT PRO vs. Scorpion

If someone is a coin and jewelry hunter ONLY (not interested in relic hunting or beach hunting or anything else), which would be the better choice? The AT PRO seems good at identifying bottle caps in the pro mode, which is great. That Scorpion really seems to bang well on jewelry and shallow...

    Tesoro Lobo

I know the Lobo is billed as a gold nugget detector, but I bet it hits pretty good on jewelry, even small jewelry, really well. How does it do on American clad coins? I'm guess if it hits well, the depth would be about 3"-4". Anyone with any experience on this?

    Cibola, uMax, & Gold

I know they both hit on coins well. In theory, the Cibola at just under 15 kHz, should hit on small, finer gold than the 10 kHz Silver uMax. Has anyone done any sort of test to see if the Cibola does better on gold than the uMax will? Or is the difference too small to notice?
