    ID Edge problem, need help.

I bought a used ID Edge in July. Used it about 4 times. Today I was testing the Notches, all notches work except for the pulltab notch. I still hear all the tabs. Maybe the detector has a problem or am I doing something wrong.

    Get free rechargeable batteries from

the Recycle Center in your town. They should have a bucket for batteries to be recycled. Battery packs from portable drills, etc. might have one bad battery, the rest are still good. I got all these in two trips. Jabbo

Does positive ground balance help detect the deeper coins?

When I first got the Golden, the ground balance seemed to be neutral, no sound when bobbing. It wasn't getting the 6" coins in my test garden. Then I tweaked the internal GB trimmer a little positive. Now it gets even the 7" dime that I have buried, and in a park a measured 8" penny. It seems...

    Golden uMax. Good little detector.

I bought one several months ago. Haven't used it much, but took it to a park today with the 7" concentric coil looking for gold jewelry. Didn't find any but dug some really deep scrap. Last week I buried a penny 6" in this park to test my other detectors. The Golden hit it hard in disc mode...

Got an ID Edge last week. Been out with it 4 times.

This is one heck of a detector. I'm amazed at the depth it will find tiny pieces of metal. Easy to learn and use. The four tones and the 36 ID numbers are a great combination. Fisher got it right with this one, a real pleasure to use.

Will CZ coils work on the Edge?

I was there first but didn't get the deeper stuff.

Searched the property (about 3 acres) of a 1830's home about 6 weeks ago. House is empty, will be renovated. Used my Cortes in Disc mode. Found 4 Indian head pennies ( 4 inches deep) in the back yard near a tree. Went back the following week and found one silver rosie, a few wheats and some...

I adjusted the disc mode pre-set ground balance trimmer pot

on my Cortes slightly more positive so that I could detect a dime buried 7" in my test garden. Great, after the adjustment I could pick up the dime in disc mode. But when I passed the coil over the coins that are buried 4" and 5" deep the meter indicated IRON mostly and the SUM mode tones were...

    Golden

Bought a used Golden a few months ago. I like the four tones and the depth is close to my Cortes. In my 3 year old test garden I have a quarter buried 6", dime 5", and penny 6", plus 4 other coins at lesser depths. The quarter and dime always gave a bad signal, sort of iffy. Today, testing the...

Saw an Etrac user pull a 1812

half dollar from a heavily hunted park yesterday, in NJ. About uncirculated condition. What excitement. Coin was 7 inches deep, my Fisher could have found that if I dug iffy targets. One of his Etrac buddies showed me a 1781 half real almost uncirculated he dug the day before. Like they say, no...

    F/S Compass GoldStar 400

Bought at a garage sale. Everything works, but I won't use it, I like my more modern detectors better. Has the 8 inch green and yellow coil that someone might need, 5 pin cable. Knobs are: Sensitivity, Discriminate, Ground Balance, Tuner, and a motion/non-motion switch(TR Disc, GB Disc). Also...

Was searching the grass strips in another town

Got a coin tone signal between the curb and a large tree, about 3 inches from the tree. The dirt was hard and stoney, almost no grass under the tree. I look down and see a dime laying on top. Picked it up - a 1934 Mercury with great detal and not even any scratches, but the color turned grey. I...

Bought a Golden uMax from another finds member

Wow, does this detector talk. Not a one tone beep like the Vaquero I had. Used it twice so far, today in a park. Pennies, clad, square tabs, beaver tail tabs, nails, steel bottle caps, foil. All produce a distinct signal. Some signals are two mid tones, some two mid tones with chatter, some...

    F/S Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300

Bought the 3300 (used) to keep in my vehicle but it's always in the way. Digital meter, four tones, ground balance, notch, 2.75 Lbs, 8 inch coil. Uses two 9v batteries. $110 shipped. Postal money order. A decent detector for the money.

Searching Sidewalk grass strips. Anyone have any luck there?

Tried it today on four streets. Nice neighborhood, 1800's houses, slate sidewalks. Found plenty of memorial penny's. Too much trash to get a clean signal from deeper coins. Used a small coil, then the standard 8 inch coil, disc turned up to hear coins only. Gotta be silver there. Anyone have any...

Never had a Garrett before. Bought a used

Master Hunter CXII for $125. One of the touchpads wasn't working, peeled off plastic strip, had some fine beach sand under, cleaned out sand, glued it back on, now is OK. I'll have to say this is a great detector, performance is about equal to my Tesoro Cortes except is heavier. Added an armcuff...
