    2 hunts from last week

Got out to a few spots Thursday evening and Saturday morning. 18 wheats (several in the teens), 2 George cents, 2 toasted Indians (1890, 1898), 2 mercs (both 1943), a '58 Rosie, a 1902 V-Nickel and a nice little sterling ring with tiger-eye stone. Running my standard ferrous-coin/combined audio...

    Recent Finds

These finds from the past week - got out once during the week to a park and scored an1891 Indian, then a heavily hunted spot at another local park netted a '42 Merc and several wheats. Out of town this weekend - hunting at my favorite "extinct" fairground got me 6 more Indians (2 - 1901's, 2 -...

    This Week's Finds

These are the finds that I came up with since last weekend... had the flu Thursday and Friday so I think I got out 3 or 4 times this week. Ended up with 14 wheats (1909 the oldest), 2 Georgies, 3 Indians (1874, 1882 and 1908 - that was stuck to a 1912 wheat), 2 silver rings, one nice heavy one...

    Last Few Hunts

Got out Tuesday evening and again tonight for several hours each night. Ran into a couple of E-Trac drivers on Tuesday (crunch7077 and michigancoinhunter on the Youtube) - they did pretty well too. Tuesday landed me 3 wheats, 2 mercs ('26 and '27S) and an old German Stove token (turn of the...

    Shield Nickel

Took advantage of the cool, damp weather yesterday afternoon and visited the park I've been hunting lately... my limited hunt time yielded 5 wheats (1913 the oldest), 3 crusty indians (1885 the oldest) that I've got soaking in olive oil, and my first shield nickel of the year - an 1869! The...

    Weekend Goods

Jumped around to a few parks and schools this weekend - seemed to be people and things going on everywhere I went. Weather was MUCH nicer Sunday evening for dirt fishing! I ended up with 7 wheats, 4 crusty Indians (01, 04, 06, 07), a 1918 Merc and a 1947 Washington.

    Doc's Modes

Hey guys, here are the (2) main modes that I run on the CTX - one combined mode (ferrous-coin) and one 50 multi (high-trash with Andy's old coin disc. pattern). Enjoy!

    Thursday at an old park

Had some time Thursday afternoon so I ran out to a park that I've found old stuff at in the past. Detected slowly, listened for deeper targets. Ended up with 15 wheaties, 2 Indians (1902 and ????), a '35 Merc, a 1914 Barber and a sterling "I'm a Catholic" medallion. Most of the coins were 7-8...

    Half in the Bag

Hunted Friday afternoon with my brother and a friend from the club - we visited a local river park for a few hours - get several wheats, a '45 George, a '36 buffalo, a '43 Merc and a little snare drum charm - don't know if it's silver or not. My brother also got a Merc and several wheaties. This...

Few Hours Before the Heat on Saturday

I hunted for a grand total of 2.5 hours on Saturday morning at an old park before the heat wore me out and came up with a couple of silver ladies. 3 Mercs ('35, '39 and '43) as well as 6 wheaties, an ornate brass handle off of something and a Baptist Summer School pin. Still luvin' this machine!

    Wednesday/Thursday

Hunted a spot that I've pounded at a local park Wednesday evening and managed several wheats and a '43 Merc that was surrounded by screw caps and iron - wiggled it out. Tonight I ran out to Ann Arbor and got a '60 Rosie, a Sterling Ring, a Silver pendant, several more wheats (2 1912's) and a...

4th of July Week - A Few Good Ones

Got out several times over the 4th and made a few good finds (not many tho!). 2 Indians (1891 and 1899), a 1902 Barber Dime, an old Navy cuff button, a saddle rosette and several wheats and some other misc. stuff (still in my pouch). HH

Hot, dry and dusty - CTX still finds 'em

Got out and hunted an old park that I've done many times the past few years (as have many others) - ground is bone dry and very hard to dig. Saturday, the first signal I dug was in around some old tree roots exposed on top of the ground - very shallow 12-42 - an 1898 O Barber dime at 1 inch. The...

    Past few hunts...

Got out a few times with the 3030 this week - Tuesday, my brother an I stopped by a 1920's school and got a couple sterling rings, some wheats and 4 Mercs (I got an '18, a '25 and a '43). Over the Fathers Day weekend I headed out of town to see my dad. I hunted an old fairground property on...

    Park Hunting - CTX Style

Got out to a local park Friday afternoon for an hour and found 2 wheats, a '51 Rosie and a '37 Merc (had to call it quits early because my wife called and said she wanted to go out to dinner). Saturday I made a road trip to an old park and got 6 wheats (1909, 1910 x2 , 1918 the oldest), 2...

    Mystery Button

Was out hunting yesterday with my brother at a mid-1800's house and found this button in a heavily iron infested area - only about 3" deep but difficult to detect (used combined mode on CTX). It's pretty beat up, missing the back but unusually heavy. It looks like an older (pre civil war?) eagle...

    Day 2 with the CTX

My brother Tim stopped by after his "seated" hunt and we swung by a local fave spot. We're still getting used to the CTX 3030 and it is finding stuff that we've missed in the past. Most of the finds came from a fairly small area and were deep. Ended up with 18 wheats, 2 George cents, 3 Rosies...

First Ride on the CTX Train

I took my CTX out this evening after work to a few parks that I and others have hunted hard with the E-Trac. I wanted to especially try a new "combined" mode that I created in the Exchange 2 software on my PC. I ran a wide open screen. This mode is like TTF on steroids. Having multiple tones for...
