    Deus 2 HF Coils

For a gold prospector using a PI or VLF detector, a 0.5 gram target like an .177 air gun pellet would be an easily detectable target. Not tiny at all. Tiny for us is a sub 0.1 gram or smaller target like a #9 shotgun bird hunting pellet. Right now, a 0.5 gram nugget is worth $50, so definitely...

    Deus 2 HF Coils

XP deliberately setup Deus 2 to be slightly insensitive to really small targets using the FMF modes. One of those FMF modes is a designated gold prospecting mode. So poor sensitivity to targets smaller than .3 grams and gold prospecting or micro jewelry huntingin mineralized ground/beach without...

Anything new from Minelab for 2025?

Minelab Goldmonster 2000 was announced last week with shipping in October (Spring in Australia).

    Manticore’s strange reporting on a $10 target

Even though those quarters were machine wrapped there is still space between them. Audio like that is a “tell” for me that there is an unusual target under the coil like a chain, broken ring, an odd coin spill… The video you posted above shows some of your settings. The horseshoe button is set...

    Manticore’s strange reporting on a $10 target

I’ve been spelling English language words for 64 years and I still need a spell checker so time detecting isn’t necessarily proof of being an expert on every situation. The keyword in your post/video is “expect”. You don’t need $10 of quarters to make this “problem” occur. $2 of quarters will...

Garrett Vortex VX9 may have major flaw(s) with latest version software.

I got to include a little gold prospecting testing on the VX9 and I will do some more. Gerry and some of the other Garrett Gold Challenge participants got to tryout the VX9 for gold prospecting and they liked it a lot. So did I. It is easily better than the AT Gold and Apex for gold prospecting...

    Deus 2 HF Coils

This was an introductory video with a little information about the coil and a lot of suggestions about where to use it besides gold prospecting. He said twice in the video that most of the video was about coil stability testing on three scenarios, wet ploughed fields, wet pasture and wet salt...

Garrett Vortex VX9 may have major flaw(s) with latest version software.

Our club also has a VX9 at the request of Garrett so that we can give them feedback. I also got to test a friend’s VX9 for a week just after it was released. Garrett has a ways to go software wise and they are well aware of that whether they publicly say that or not. I use my Equinox 800...

Garrett Vortex VX9 may have major flaw(s) with latest version software.

I agree with you about being able to choose an earlier software version like V2.07 for the VX9. Your other “Beta tester” point is misleading at best. The original Equinox 600/800 had 3 online software updates, Deus 2 has had at least 7 software updates, the Nokta Legend had 9. So French and...

    Manticore over E-trac

If you are mostly looking for high conductors in mild ground, using All Terrain High Conductors will stabilize mid to high conductor targets ids a lot. That even works for me hunting in high iron mineralization. I use ATHC momentarily to double check target ids when I’m mostly hunting in AT General.

    Manticore over E-trac

Does the Manticore have a 2 tone ferrous/non ferrous default audio setting? Yes. Is it similar to the Etrac TTF in performance? Thankfully, NO. 2 tone ferrous was one of my least favorite audio settings on the Etrac. The ferrous tone/reactivity was ridiculously overpowering and slow to react...

    Manticore over E-trac

The main enhancements of Multi IQ for me are the ones you mentioned plus the two biggest of them all: advanced ground handling so that Multi IQ can unlock moderate to difficult mineralized ground and it also makes it easy to hit targets of a wide variety of sizes down to 0.05 grams and of any...

Minelab has DISCONTINUED the EQUINOX 600 and 800 .....MANTICORE is on sale at $1299....Whats next for Minelab?

I loved my 600 and 800. They found so many great targets that I didn't even realize were in the ground after using a Deus 1, Etrac and F19 for many years. Then I got the 900 and like Mark, it just didn't do anything for me as a detector. Its physical improvements were fantastic but there was...

    Sounds the same to me.

    Manticore over E-trac

If normal conditions means not too much surface trash and mild ground mineralization, probably not if you are just looking for silver/high conductors. If there is lots of non-ferrous, mixed alloy trash and any thing worse than mild mineralization, the Manticore will have a big advantage. I...

    Learning the Manticore

Sounds like you and the Manticore are agreeing with each other so far. Keep posting your experiences. I hunted in All Terrain General for almost 6 months before I started using the other land based coin/jewerly/relic programs. It did so well for me right out of the box that I didn't want to...

Just a reminder to folks posting on the Garrett Forum about the VX9 issues.

All Garrett has to do is fix a Vortex software issue and send it out as on online update. Sometimes that is a quick fix and sometimes it takes some trial and error testing. It's not a coil problem, a component problem or a MAJOR FLAW even though it looks bad on video and it certainly needs to...

Does Garrett plan on releasing new Whites products

This information comes directly from the main field tester: Garrett went over every tiny detail of the original Whites Goldmaster 24K design, lightened and improved tolerances of the supplied coil and added quality rechargeable batteries, charger and LOWERED the price by almost $100. My...

Had to find out what all the noise was about.

The Simplex software version will be displayed at the bottom left of the screen on startup. Nokta Makro is shipping the current Simplex batch with a little black plug that is inserted into the top of the lower shaft. With the smaller coil attached the lower shaft is not nearly as flexible. I...

Apex vs. Ace 400 and AT Pro

There is definitely something odd about the APEX sounding off on what sounded like some kind of interference several times in the video. Maybe it was picking up EMI from the gentleman's camera/phone or he has an APEX with one of the malfunctioning Viper coils. As far as the target separation...
