2 silver day for the v's.....

Is this post really going to be dug up after this many years? I experimented with a Silver Rosie and it may have lost all its potential value...... "I for one would not smelt truck loads of dirty filthy coins"...... Sounds like someone has had a bad day.... I just got back from...

    V3i Problems

Unfortunately crap results with 3 different detectors usually means that it is user error. You must determine if you are cut out for metal detecting and must be willing to put the time in. Are you willing to let someone local help you? If you give your location here their may be someone...

    Aussie 3 pence test

Hmmm...... I would like to jump in here and say the 950 is a poor coil choice for mineralized soil? Earnestly awaiting on Peter..... Sorry Rob, I had to get my fix for the day, posting that is.

    wierd depth with a nail

When nails get thin like that and are old square nails all the metal left in them can be non ferrous and present itself as a good target. I dug one last night at a foot under a pvc water line here at my house. It happens. Rest assured that a silver quarter will sound very similar at near that...

    Max performance' 10DD program

I have noticed running the single frequency 7.5 and the 5hz band pass in mixed mode pro gets me great depth and falses much less. If it starts to act up I ground balance and may turn the gain and disc down until it quiets some. Running 3 frequency was not going very deep in some of my highly...

Can someone tell me why People buy the SEF coils over the Whites??

They really can help, but what I have noticed is most important of all is, to go slow. Sef coils excel in high trash areas but you must swing slow and creep along. The white ones are v-nulled and work with the 22.5 frequency. The black ones may overload or act eratic in the 22.5 and this will...

Can someone tell me why People buy the SEF coils over the Whites??

Coils for the v3 series are v-rated which is optimized for the 22.5 frequency. Whites coils are absolutely superb and their service is unmatched, they are some of the best. However the SEF coils with their patented butterfly design get superb depth, razor like separation and ultimate...

12x10 VS. 15x12 SEF. Any advantage for bigger coil?

Ok..... The coil weighs a little more that the D2. 701g vs 530g Thats nearly 1/3 of a pound more on the end of the detector and it changes the balance point further down. Hence the need for a swing thingy. If you are digging targets at depth (8+") you are going to either be hitting them...

    8X6 S.E.F. Coil ?

Thanks Rob and Martin, I am going to have to look into one of these.

12x10 VS. 15x12 SEF. Any advantage for bigger coil?

I have both... .That being said, I have used my 10x12 once or twice since I bought and received my larger 12x15. The reason being is that I get so much more out of the larger coil and it separates nearly as well as the small one. If you are hunting trashy home sights or brush I would...

2 silver day with the v3i and 12x15 sef

I went back to our hunted to death field and hit another little park today. The chain was found a couple of inches down in a coin spill of around 4 Dollars..... The little ring that doesnt even weigh a gram was found at an astonishing 7" and did not even bounce. I got a solid vdi of...

    HP 2900

The only complaint I have is that the internal shut off in the battery is not in correlation to the voltage bar displayed on the start up screen of the v3i. When you get down to half power on the start up screen you better charge your pack. Prepare to charge once every 15 hours or more. I...

    VX3 & Small Silver Coins.

Maybe it could be the coil choice? I found one at 5 1/2" in a trash filled area with high EMI. Here is the link to the thread. I was using the d2 at the time. It sure is a cute coin, a little smaller than a dime. I remember the signal and digging it, it was one of my first detected silver...

Fun finds and a growing ring collection

Be careful tossing anything you might find....With the right soil gold can take varying shades, it's not to uncommon.

    Lead id"s as silver:help:

Do you have permanent access to this location? If the answer is yes, hunt the place clean. Dig all positive vdi's. There is nothing wrong with your detector. Signals/vdi's can mishmash and add up to something its not. However as Rob said you are experiencing wrap. I would dig all of them so...

    Lead id"s as silver:help:

Dig them all out of there and be rewarded or not...... I like finding lead. :detecting: Gold and lead like to sink at the same rate. When I hit a field and start finding folded lead or lead washers I start thinking $20 gold pieces. It seams that all those low conductors where never dug back in...

    Soon Joining the ranks!

Actually there are too many reasons to upgrade to the v3i. My hunting buddy has a mxt and his go to machine is his v3i. It sensitivity to small targets and its choice of operating frequencies make it unparallelled. If you cant afford one then my advice is to save for one.....:clapping:
