    GTI 2500

The GTI 2500 is discontinued as are some of the older PI units. They are now old enough where getting parts is an issue. Oh well, as the saying goes...... "When one door closes, another new door opens."

VORTEX - A Coin Hunter's Dream. June Was My Best Month This Year!

My best month so far! Why?......Schools done so they are all open for metal detecting plus Canada Day fireworks field where I got lots of one and two dollar coins. And the Vortex is a coin hunter's dream in my opinion. I just love all the information that is shown on the screen. And a great...

Out To A After fireworks Location This Morning From Last Night. The VX9 Was A True Workhorse

I got so many one and two dollar coins last night. For 2 hours of detecting, I managed $24.30. The US quarters are so easy to ID. In the high 80's is either a US quarter or a ring. Also scooped up a couple of bracelets and a camera, which I am in the process of trying to locate the owner based...

Got Ring #14 A Couple Of Days Ago

Got a couple of hunts in earlier this week. We are getting the hot temperatures up here too. I took the AT MAX out for a water hunt. I found several coins and a thimble. The ring was dug up in a school yard.

Just Smok'n It With The Vortex 6" x 11" Coil - Silver Dime, Ring #13 Plus So Much Coinage.

Well, we have an active metal detecting group in Edmonton with a membership of 1,524. Of course, that doesn't equate to all those people running around beeping. It's usually the top 6% that do super well and the rest just dabbling in the hobby. Here's a link to our club...

Just Smok'n It With The Vortex 6" x 11" Coil - Silver Dime, Ring #13 Plus So Much Coinage.

Digging in tough dry ground has it's challenges. I always use a screwdriver to pop my targets out of the ground or at least loosen the dirt around it. I too have a sore shoulder at times. That's part of being 70.

Just Smok'n It With The Vortex 6" x 11" Coil - Silver Dime, Ring #13 Plus So Much Coinage.

It's a pretty simple unit to operate. I pretty well stay with the zero disc/25 kHz, unless I hit the woods, where I run zero disc with multi freq. or 5 kHz making it more sensitive to higher conductors like copper and silver.

    Axiom

No.....the flour gold is just too small to create any kind of a detectable signal.

Just Smok'n It With The Vortex 6" x 11" Coil - Silver Dime, Ring #13 Plus So Much Coinage.

Here's my last 3 hunts. Those one and two dollar coins are so easy to ID with that smaller coil. This should be a good month over-all. A couple of pennies and an earring today. The rest were found in parks. And a bit of flour gold a few days back.

    Axiom

There are so few tiny nuggets which actually could be picked up with the AXIOM. There are so many other targets in the river it would probably be a ratio of 1 tiny nugget to 5,000 signals. You are better off running a detector unstable to pick up the magnetite/hematite concentrations, where the...

Here's Two More Hunts Worth.....Love That 6" x 11" Coil. It's Staying Put On The Shaft.

All the different detectors run at different frequencies, so the coils are not compatible. :(

Pssst...Wanna See What I Bought With Some Of My metal Detecting Coins?

PSSSST.....Wanna see what I purchased with some of my metal detecting coins and trash pop cans from my NSR prospecting trips? I got a steal of a deal (less then original price from the Canada Mint) on a meteorite coin. I currently have several specimens of meteorites and a couple of meteorite...

    Trouble with the Vortex 9..

I agree 100%. He was also a very generous person too. He often donated metal detectors and gear to various meets and clubs all over the world. He and I exchanged a couple of letters, before internet existed. We lost a very noble man.
