    Here’s the scoop:

Looks like that scoop has some age to it! Nice digs on the silver also, I've used Mothers on stained Gold n Silver and a hammer on crusty silvers. Since I melt all my silver Im not to worried about the after condition.

    Beach gold

A real Beauty! I'm guessing its older, from the 50 to 60s. Or maybe lost by a older person, differently not from this generation.

Model number for this sunspot scoop

That is as old as the hills. I would guess and say its from the early years. Chuck is still around I'll send that picture to him and see what he has to say.

Depth modification of detector circuit boards.

Shaunfth was a very gifted electronics engineer who made the "S" Amp and he was a beach hunter. Here is Shaun's Signal Amp on the excalibur and how much the send field is amplified. I use a audiosears 2463 speaker/microphone to pick up the send field. Interesting is how the 2463 can show the...

Depth modification of detector circuit boards.

Maybe not the D2 but it does to some others, TDI PI's were famous at getting more depth when voltage was increased to 16.8/18./21 volts and like any detector had a lot to do with the conditions if you could use all the extra, but it was good to have it available and when used it, it was deeper...

Holding... Same boat here at 72, Very Blessed With the way all is going I expect gold to continue up. Only thing worries me if they try and go cashless in the future.

    Shark Teeth While Detecting

I have a spot I find small Shark teeth and several other types of bones. I even made a special sifter so I could see them better, using white netting. Strange is rarely do I find them way off shore, all our with in 60 foot of the shoreline.

Is it worth fixing (Excal II)?

Get some 303® Marine Protectant and keep all well sprayed.

    Excal II Headphone Change

Tony makes a good set of head phones. Very dependable, comfortable, good performance and fair priced.

    Excal II Headphone Change

Maybe one of my best ideas, and really it came from a guy in PA (Buggse?) who said, sure would be nice if I could use different head phones on my excalibur (2011). I started looking around and seen it was possible... bought a watch makers lathe.. and started making endcaps of all kinds...

    YouTube Calabash

And just like that... Not a bad guy, I talked to him once, much calmer talking to him compared to his video's .... where he always seemed like he was on a mission. Never related to his video's but he did put a lot of effort in to proving "His" point, got to give him credit there. Hope he is...

    Black Sand

Not well, and it can vary. Depends on the make up of the beach. Is the black sand in veins, layers or thick deposits. In the heavy black sand I used all metal with poor results.. Layers where the black sand is showing each tide sand movement, thin black layer... then regular sand, than...

Built a probe for my Manticore

Nice work, and a great idea.. Excellent for land hunting.. looks fairly easy to make too .. does either machine interfere with the other? Years ago I think you made a water proof Explorer? That was a piece of art!

White's Spectra V3i cherry picking gold rings.

That's some old gold, just a guess the late 1800's to 1920s.

White's Spectra V3i cherry picking gold rings.

I've dug hundreds of gold rings (Not in the dirt or with a Whites machine) and got to say you can cherry pick but there is always that chance one is going to come in totally different (And Off) as far as target ID, and that based on many things, design, size, shape, gold purity, if its broken...

Most Hated Words for a beach detectorist....

I would take 11 gold anytime out of 22 rings found, I think that is excellent! You did great! Even though many think everyone had gold rings back in the day and did not wear junk rings here is one of my better days in the chesapeake bay at a beach that was open in the 50/60/70/80s.. since I...

Can I still find a coil

Can I still find a coil

If your not using it near water that cover should be fine. But keeping it 100% water proof could be a issue. I would give it a new cable, sealing the area where the coil wire goes into the coil is very important. And really not that hard. I think Mel Parkers pictures explain how the best. 1...
