Bought a back up for the X-terra.

To me, the ideal machine would be basically a 705 in the new lightweight rechargeable waterproof pod and a Beach Mode that worked in wet salt like the Pro. It would still have the -8 to 48 TID scale and the same audio as the 705, as well as all the other user definable operating modes and...

I'm curious about what drew you to the Vanquish. I'm guessing it was simplicity.

10 years later, I take my X-terra 705 out of storage.

It's just different. In some ways it's easier, but in other ways it falls short, IMO. I'm an audio hunter, and the audio on the 705 is (again my opinion) superior in terms of what it conveys to the user. I also like the user definable features of the 705 over the Pro that offers more overall...

This is pretty wild! Multi-drone flutes made from Elk antler.

If you don't already have it, go to the Minelab website and find the PDF file version of Randy Horton's book "Understanding Your X-Terra". Then, read it twice. It's an easy read and an invaluable resource.

Just for a little more specific clarity, low frequency is 3kHz, standard or medium frequency is 7.5kHz, and high frequency is 18.75kHz. I see that you have the Coiltek 6" 3kHz " Digger". That coil is an excellent sniper in high trash areas, and it is the best for sniffing out copper, silver...

No. He's referencing a set of wired headphones. https://usa.minelab.com/wired-headphones-with-3-5mm-1-8-inch-plug

X-Terra Elite coils vs NOX coils

They ALL have it anymore. The difference is in the Nox programming complexity and the chips to accommodate that difference. It started with the first-generation X-Terras, then was next incorporated in the CTX3030. It's part of the "SmartCoil™" technology employed by just about every VLF detector...

X-Terra Elite coils vs NOX coils

The difference is likely based on Vflex processor capability differences. The Nox processor requirements are more complex, hence they are more expensive to design and produce. As far as I know, all of Minelab's current production VLF detectors utilize the Vflex technology that was pioneered in...

    X-terra Elite headphones and beachcombing.

I like the long handle just because I don't have to kneel down and get back up nearly as often as I would have to without one. And, if you go into the water more than knee deep, having the long handle is a must! Wood handles are fine but can be heavy. Handles of other materials should be filled...

    X-terra Elite headphones and beachcombing.

I think that most of us have scoops with long handles, which would make carrying it over the shoulder easier. Personally, I just drag mine behind me to keep it out of the way and away from the coil. My shovel has a short handle, so when I'm hunting with it I hang onto the handle and then hook...

    X-terra Elite headphones and beachcombing.

Cancel your order if you still can. The ML-80 headphones won't work (they won't pair) with the X-Terra series. You need either the ML-85 or ML-105 phones.

What are the differences between the X-Terra Pro and the Elite?

As near as I can tell, judging by info on the Minelab site, the answer is "YES". The Pro and Elite can run either X-Terra Pro or Equinox coils, but the Nox can't run V-series coils.

First Outing Of The Year At A New Site

:cautious: I'm giving up on this site. I've spent too many hours just trying to locate the home site to no avail, and there are more places to hunt that are at least as likely to be productive (probably more so). I'm thinking that the button I found was simply a random anomaly, blind luck...

First Outing Of The Year At A New Site

Got out for a couple of hours today with the PRO at a site I've been trying to get permission to hunt for a few years. It wasn't as productive as I'd hoped, but I'm not nearly finished there, I'm actually just getting started. According to old maps there was a home there, but it's been nothing...
