Ah, thanks. I thought it was one of 2 bells from an old alarm clock. The bicycle bell makes more sense. It's a heavy cast pot metal type material.

    Could use some help here

I found this in a field that I've pulled coins ranging from 1890's to the 1920's. Many of the personal items I've dug are engraved like this one. I have no clue as to what it could be from.

Got 3 hrs in the field yesterday. I think about 6 more tokens but severely damaged. severely corroded pennies most of which are not shown because I decided to soak them in lemon juice to see if I could reveal any details. It didn't help. They are just too far gone. The 1922 dog tag is in great...

Me too! I knew I had something when I retrieved it. I'm still looking for the top half, but I'm worried it got gathered up when the sod was harvested.

Yes, sadly many are in bad shape. I do love finding tokens.

Most recent "notable" finds from the permission. The individual button is a Michigan state seal. "Morgan Puhl Morris Detroit Mich." Any help in identifying what uniform this may have been used on would be appreciated. Google wasn't much help. Also found at the site is a round badge Upper left...

Great weekend beach hunt big silver quarter trifecta and dime trifecta.

Great spot Mark. I've never found a silver half. Closest was a 68 Kennedy half 40%, in a soccer field. I'm curious, those ocean silvers are pretty rough, do you sell them for melt?

Another reason not to dig zinc's !!

I hate digging zincs also, however that's right in the zone where I find .925 silver jewelry with the D2 (85 on up) land hunting. Not sure if it's the specific program I use or a SMF thing, but I've found quite a bit of silver jewelry that rung up 85-86. While zinc's ring up 85 and under...

    My first half dime

I feel lucky, I've found 2 since detecting. I had no idea they were so desired. Congrats and what a nice specimen!

On a hunch, I asked permission for a field that had two rises in the earth. None of the historical maps show that a homestead existed in this field, but I've found a lot of relics that indicate habitation of some sort. Maybe an undocumented picnic grove? The following pictures show the better...

Just Arrived, my new Deus 2. Can’t wait to hit the beach.

Run the frequency scan as I'm sure you already know, but you can also mitigate the noise by notching out 98-99. That will get rid of about 40-50% of the irritating chatter. You could drop down to 97-99 and reduce it even more, but you will be in dangerous territory for notching large silver...

More gold another class ring 1948 and a V nickel

Jealousy makes it hard for me to convey congratulations for a great hunt.:ROFLMAO: Well done Mark.

    Gold went over $2900.00 today

Just a thought.... If you aren't tight on money, it might be prudent to keep some of that gold around. There might come a time when you need that physical gold or silver to barter with. At least, that's what I'm doing. Worst that can happen is my kids inherit my collection when I die and that...

True story George Washington protected by God

So true, I knew this story for many years. Every once in a while, I get to share it. Thanks for the video, now I can link to someone with way more gravitas than me.

    Flat button enigma?

I'm not so sure. The back indicates brass or bronze. It is definitely plated; in this case I think silver plate.

    My Program

You know Mark, I don't recall checking my 1oz gold eagles when I had them available. Have you had a chance to check any large gold coins or 1oz ingots?

    Deus 2 - Vdi scale

Flintstone was commenting about digging foil and pull tabs which are the bane of those looking for gold jewelry. Since foil and pull tabs are always found in parks, sports fields, schools, and beaches, etc. It's not hard to extrapolate that he wants to dig jewelry without digging pull tabs and...

    Deus 2 - Vdi scale

At no time have I replied to the OP's post, only the people who have posted follow up comments. My last post was in response to Flintstone to let him know that the Deus-2 has a lot of what he is seeking in a detector. To answer your post, I would say ferrous normally runs 5 and under with the...

    Deus 2 - Vdi scale

The Deus-2 is SMF (Simultaneous Multi-Frequency) 4-40KHz. It's also got a TID scale of 0-100. If you are looking for gold rings, you're going to dig pull tabs. Otherwise, you can cherry pick coins and silver jewelry with great success.
