    interesting military? buttons from colonial site - any ideas?

    farm site has been settled since 1700's. anyone have any thoughts? 2 different good buttons today for 4 hours work plus some colonial flats and 2 Injuns one was an 1873 and the other a no date... buttons have only been rinsed with warm water - no other cleaning. thanks for any assistance. Barry

    Any ideas on what this gilded lion with wings item is?

    anyone have any suggestions? came in at 12/43 on E-Trac - some gilding left on front and back - probably was over bronze - no markings. curved with the 2 holes in the middle - could have come from a military hat or helmet.. plowed field site was 1700's + thanks much. Barry

    Seems like it's cast bronze?...very detailed engraved feather work. Beautiful greenish brown patina. Nice solid weight at 60 grams. 12-42/43 on the E-Trac. Plowed farm site Southampton, Long Island. Confirmed 1750's site - also found King George large copper. It was attached to something else...

    Unknown button - help please....

    Found this button in the plowed fields on Long Island, NY where I have been finding pre to post Revolutionary items including coins dating to 1750's and colonial buckles, etc. There is definite fleur de lis pattern on the front - but cannot make out the words on the back... Possibly French...
