    OPT.. truthfully, the last 5-7 yrs down there haven't been good at all... Way back when, the good ol'e days, whatever you want to call it, 20-30 bucks in change was the norm. Now 2 bucks and your king of the hill.

    I hope you do run into him Felix.. ask him about the hook he used on his belt. We used to converse back and forth many yrs ago, but haven't since the other forum disbanded some time ago. Mention Mark from ( ohio ), maybe he'd remember me ?

    Felix.. for sure, Hard pack is what u look for, that way the gold is within the reach of the signal.............................. But your right, if its not there, its crickets all day long.

    Here's why I'm asking. He use to have a sort of a hook contraption he'd wear around his waist to hook the heavy scoop to and just drag the handle thru the sand till he needed it.. My problem was this, I brought 2 scoops with me on the obx trip. One was a heavy duty NUTTALL thats has to weigh...

    but lets keep this PG... First, the trip ( not detecting ) was great. Weather got better as the week progressed. Sunshine and low 80 "s wed, thurs, fri. Now the detecting. If theres a word thats 5 levels below F'N horrible I'll go with that !! Conditions were great, ie. low tide areas...

    who's had real world experience with with the whites vx3 detector... ?

    I remember it was like the kid brother to the spectra v3 but without some of the bells and whistles. Thats ok by me, just wondering what the overall operation of the unit was or was the v3 the superior detector. Mark ( ohio )
