    DFX / V31

If your coil and detector are good, you should be able to easily pick up a coin at 4 to 5 inches. I can dig pennies and dimes at six to eight inches all day long, running nearly stock settings. As others have said, experiment. Check your swing speed, too.

Back to what we are here for...RECENT V3 FINDS!

Finds: My recent finds have been mostly clad coins, a few wheaties, one silver wedding band, a brass medallion, and a few other odds and ends. I need some better huntin' spots. :-) Upgrades: I sent mine in today. The pod screws had popped out, and it was making me nervous, so I...

    Deep Silver Program

I feel your pain -- I have been hunting an apartment building built before 1900 and haven't even found a single wheat penny. The oldest thing I found was a cosmetic tin from the 1950's. It baffles me. But the only thing I can tell you is I don't think it's the V3's fault -- it punches plenty...

    Competition hunt settings suggestions?

Thanks much for the suggestions, guys. The hunt was yesterday. I created a custom program by copying the coin and jewelry program, then setting the recovery delay to 45, filter to 10 band, and RX gain to 4. I also changed the headphones to another channel, and the frequency offset to +4. In...

    V3i

Just to add another vote of confidence for Whites, I am very happy to see them offering the upgrade to current owners. I bought mine a year ago, so I'll be paying for my upgrade. I am very happy to be able to do so without having to get a whole new machine. Thank you, Whites. :detecting:

    Competition hunt settings suggestions?

Does anyone have any suggestions for settings for a competition hunt? Targets are mostly (but not all) coins, and of course speed is important. I played with the settings a little earlier today and turning the recovery delay down definitely helps with faster swings, but I thought I'd ask if...

    V3 takes oldest coin yet

Nice finds. I won't ask where your secret location is, but could you say what kind of site it is -- home site, picnic area, campsite, or what. Just curious.

    V3 vs iPhone

I hunt all the time with my iPhone in my pocket, on the same side as the V3, and have never had a problem.

Battery charger not charging -- suggestions?

I don't think the batteries were too hot or cold -- this happened when all was at room temperature. The new charger that Whites sent worked right away. I've never really tracked it -- I have seldom hunted more than four hours at a time, and I usually just charge the battery when I get back...

Dongle that we were told would be available by now

That's my point, though -- the V3 can already share programs wirelessly to other V3's. All you'd need is something that can transmit and receive V3 programs and also plug into a usb port. Think of it like a tape recorder -- your stereo normally wants to talk to speakers, but you can also...

Dongle that we were told would be available by now

You wouldn't need to add a USB port to the V3, if you had a USB dongle that could also talk wirelessly to the V3. I have no idea how hard that would be, either, though.

Battery charger not charging -- suggestions?

I reported the issue to Whites -- a new charger is on the way! Thanks, Todd at Whites! :detecting:

Battery charger not charging -- suggestions?

Yes, I am using the rechargeable battery pack. :-) And yes I do leave it plugged in all the time. I generally have one battery pack in the charger and one in the V3, though the charger does sometimes sit for a few days without a battery in it. I wouldn't expect that to hurt it -- I have...

Battery charger not charging -- suggestions?

My V3's charger isn't charging. The power light is on, but the charge light doesn't come on when I put a battery in it, and the batteries aren't charging. I've tried two batteries, and I've tried unplugging and replugging the charger into the wall. Is there anything else I can try, or do I...

    PINPOINTING PROBLEM

Remember that the depth is based on the signal returned from a coin-sized target. The situation you described above is almost certainly an aluminum can or something like that buried a foot deep or more -- a bigger target down deep will return a signal similar to a smaller target closer to the...

Anyone using the V3 in Ohio?

We can't all be in Ohio.

A few gold finds with the DFX and V3

Nice! Do you happen to have it in a larger resolution ... maybe 1280x1024 (which, by sheer coincidence, is the size of my desktop  )?

First week with V3 - Report

Your mileage may vary, but for me, nickels are easy with the V3. In Coin & Jewelry mode, they hit with a VDI of 19, the top two bars line up on the spectragraph, and the bottom bar is one notch to the left of the top two. Every time. I've found several buffalo nickels and several Jeffersons...

A great day with the V3...

Nice finds! You have to wonder how someone could manage to lose something as big and shiny as that bracelet!

NOTE....A new sticky at the top, short cuts ....................

Those are awesome -- now if I can just remember them when I need them. :-) The backlight trick is nice, and I've been wanting to reorder my program menu for a while now. I think I need to make a "cheat sheet" with these shortcuts and settings that are hard to recall.
