hy why is there never anyone in the chatrooms pls

Like I said in the other thread, just press the "menu" button on the V3 when you're using your pinpointer. It puts the V3 on standby, and it won't make a sound. Just pull the trigger to search again.

    Made White's Sept Stories

I was just thinking about that yesterday. When I'm "done" for the day, I tend to take the most obvious and natural route back to the car, which is generally parked at or near a road. So chances are, the path I'm taking is the same path other people have taken in the past. So it's not...

    Analyzing a target

FWIW, I use the pinpoint mode in addition to the analyze screen to check the target size. Once I'm right over the target, I release the trigger, then pull it again. When I do that, it will only sound off when the target is still under the center of the coil. If I move the coil around, I can...

WHITE'S SPECTRA V3 AND SUN RAY INVADER DX-1 TARGET PROBE COMPATIBILITY

Poke the "menu" button on the V3 while you're using your pinpointer -- that will take it out of search mode and it won't make any noise at all.

Super 12" with the V-very 1st time out

Ah. I don't run mixed mode much yet, but that's good to know. Thanks!

Super 12" with the V-very 1st time out

What do you mean by "too much"? I usually crank mine up (80 or higher) -- is there a reason I shouldn't?

Super 12" with the V-very 1st time out

Very nice! And your sensitivity was just at 67? Cool! :)

What sort of buckle is this?

I found this buckle in an area I've found a three-ring bullet and some tent grommets. The buckle was 8" deep or so. I washed it off, and the edges of the center of the buckle look like copper or brass (which is what my detector said for target ID, too). Where most buckles have a tongue that can...

Anyone using the 12" coil? I am on my second one and....

I recently bought both the Super 12 and the 5.3, and am very happy with both of them. The 5.3 is great for separation in trashy areas, the Super 12 punches deep.

    Silver is silver! Nice find!

    Garbage signal? Better think twice!

You're right about one thing -- that trash signal might not be trash! I had a very similar experience to yours tonight -- got a signal that hovered around 19 or 20, but was a bit bouncy, some red in the spectragraph, etc. Analyze mode was jagged and inconclusive. I thought sure it was a...

    Garbage signal? Better think twice!

Nice one! :clapping: I've seen more than one nickel with a red line or two on the spectragraph. If it's a steady 19 or 20 VDI, I dig.

    New offer from White's

Mike, you might want to call or email them -- they're extremely responsive (in fact, they're about the most responsive company I've ever dealt with). The packet got to me within a few days of me filling out the form on the website. I mailed in my order on a Tuesday and had my coil the...

    Need a new starting point

The only changes I've been making on a regular basis are the RX gain and the sensitivity. I run them all as high as I can without it falsing. Sometimes if there is a lot of interference, switching to single frequency will solve it. The concentric coils also help -- I was able to crank up the...

    Learning curve!

I just got an Eclipse 5.3 this week, and it is definitely much better among the bottle caps than the stock coil.

    Learning curve!

I had this problem when I first started, too. But after putting in some practice (and digging plenty of bottle caps), I am rarely fooled by bottle caps anymore. As already pointed out, having the blue line highest in analyze means it's a bottle cap. If you've got the blue line highest and...

Short hunt at the park gives up another IH penny.

Great -- same range all the pulltabs read around here, which I've been ignoring. Do you know what the analyze screen looks like for a fattie?

Any news on a rain/dust cover for the V3 meter?

I can't seem to find it now, but I thought I read on Whites' website that the V3's control module was rainproof, and that the battery box was also fairly rainproof (other than the headphone jack and battery door). I know I've been caught in the rain with mine a couple of times, and it didn't...

    Old field, NEW machine!

Great finds! How did they read (VDI, etc)?

    V3's coil

Make sure you're pinpointing from two different directions, on an imaginary "X" over the target.. The target will be where the strongest signals on the two lines meet. On mine, with VCO turned on, when I pinpint, the target will be right under where the stem attaches to the coil.
