    V3 and edge coins

Today was the second time I've had the V3 sing out loud and clear about a deep coin standing on edge. Both were pennies, and both were in areas that have been detected hard by others. The first time was a 1962 memorial cent on edge at 8" (I have no idea why it was that deep), and today was a...

MXT to Spectra V3 - Anyone make this leap?

I have no idea how it compares to an MXT, but I don't find it hard to learn at all. I've found about 150 coins with mine so far, and the only thing I really need to adjust is the gain (to cut out EMI, which I get in a few places). Certainly, there is a lot you can learn about it, but you...

    NIMH battery for the V3 ... ??

You could always make your own.

    V3 and my oldest coin

Man, can I relate to that! Very impressive! :clapping:

    Spectra... first thoughts

I sympathize with wanting and expecting a machine to be "latest and greatest" when you pick it up, but I'm surprised at the hostility over this. Most any electronic device these days can have firmware issues, and it is not at all uncommon for devices already in distribution to have outdated...

    Rx gain

Even better depth? Looks like I'm going to need a longer handle for my digger... :detecting:

Any V3 users near SE Kansas?

Depending on how far is too far for you, there's a metal detecting club in Joplin, MO (Southwest Missouri Treasure Hunters), and another in Springfield, MO (417 Relic Hunters). I don't know about the one in Joplin, but I know at least one person in Springfield has one, and their monthly meeting...

Urgent help for saving my vacation - New White spectra v3 detect every time

Several things: Concrete usually has metal rebar reinforcement throughout. This is either rods or mesh, and either one will drive your detector nuts. Take it outside for testing. Of course it makes no noise with the coil detached -- there's no signal for it to work with at all. If you...

Urgent help for saving my vacation - New White spectra v3 detect every time

I couldn't see the video, but from your description, it sounds like the sensitivity is set too high, or you're getting a lot of interference. In either case, you can probably stop it by turning the RX gain down. You can do so from the search screen -- just hit the right arrow until...

New to Forum, new to V3, first impressions, questions

I've done a lot more hunting, found a bunch more coins, mostly modern. But I did have an experience today worth noting: I went to a local park that has been hit hard and repeatedly by other detectorists. I didn't really expect anything. But I hadn't been there ten minutes when a 1964 nickel...

A nice find followed by a dry spell

I know that feeling. Sounds like a nice indian head, though.

Found a few keepers with the V3

Nice finds! That's a nice spread of dimes! If you don't mind me asking, how do you approach this? I've not yet asked a stranger to hunt their property, and I'm guessing "Hi, I'm Robert -- mind if I dig some holes in your yard?" isn't going to work. :)

    Battery pack modifications?

That sounds great -- I'm looking forward to seeing the process. Sounds like aside from the batteries themselves, it's only about a dollar in parts. I already bought a set of those batteries, so being able to charge them in the case in the stock charger would be great!

    600 hundred more bucks

That color isn't just pretty, it's useful. The analyze mode would be pretty hard to read without color. With the color display, the frequencies are very easy to read. I also like the use of red for rejected targets and green for accepted targets in the search screen -- easy to tell at a...

    Battery pack modifications?

Ah. Is it OK to PM the link to me? I realize it only saves removing the batteries to charge them, but it also saves buying a separate charger and having it plugged in. I already have a half-dozen chargers plugged in and sitting on the counter. I'm not committed to the idea yet, I just want...

    Battery pack modifications?

One of the FAQ's on Whites website asks if you can use the spare alkaline battery case to make your own NiMH rechargeable battery pack. The answer says to "see the forums" for people who have done just that. I don't know which forums they refer to (didn't see a link?), but I can't find any...

    Deep Silver program question

Yes. I initially turned on Deep Silver, with boost on, gain at 7 (ground probe recommended setting), and there was no signal in that area. I made sure there was no signal for at least a couple of feet in all directions around the hole.
