Is the V3i a reliable detector?

Is the V3i a reliable detector?

And as we all know you are not able to determine what is causing the inconsistencies you are seeing. Its either EMI or coil temperature instability, bad coil. The v3 series is very demanding on coils. Today I had allot of falsing in a wet marshy area, I could hold the pinpoint down and...

Is the V3i a reliable detector?

It is 100% reliable with that super duper Whites customer service. I have had mine for 3 years now? And I have had zero component failure of the detector. I have had some coils go bad from either being in the trunk of the car or being jostled around, and a battery pack finally gave out on...

    Need Some Help Choosing

Ive had both. I still have my v3i. The etrac had some very nice features but in my trashy areas I just cant dig the old rusty nails all day long. I needed more information with a greater degree of customization. The etrac was similar to running a single frequency 7.5 khz with the v3i. Thats...

    Christmas Presents

I think the v3i has finally been recognized by the majority as being the most adaptable and thus successful detector ever produced. Thats what I think:beers:

    Spectra V3i

I remember my first silver quarter at the 8+ inches mark. I could not believe that it had found a quarter in this school field amongst all the nails and trash. It was probably closer to 10" and I walked away a couple times thinking no way is this anything smaller than a beer can. It is surely...

    V3i 12" DD coil

They look pretty good but have had to many bad coils from overseas and would need some serious assurance that I would be getting a properly nulled coil.

    Advice on VX3 Learning Curve

Does the vx3 have mixed mode pro with the split headphone signal? Nevermind I see that it doesnt. This feature sets the v3i apart from every other detector. I think this will need its own topic.

    Interference V3i

Thats my one complaint out of the 100's of positives. I have found I can work around most EMI situations but them darned dog fences and burried power lines are the worst.

    First Relic Hunt of 2014...

Nice hunt and heck of a machine...... I love them old buttons, "I" for infantry for those that dont know.

Franklin half and a nice token for the day.

Got out and did some serious hunting today in a "new to us" field. Using the V3i and the 12x15 sef and running mixed mode stereo. So many targets, there had been dozens of cabins that had been tore down, lots of trash. I found 5 wheats all in the 40's and 50's. My wife found a 1901 Barber dime...

For those on the fence ...Silver from the last couple of hunts.

I detect here in Northern California. I dont pay much attention to any of the probe/mineralization numbers. I just run it as hot as I can while keeping it stable.

I wouldnt mind seeing the marbles. I love finding them.

V3i hit some post civil war buttons and marbles:hot:

Nice button, is there more? I have been reading an awesome account of the atrocities. I would recommend reading "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee".

    Learning the VX3

Keep the gain turned down the first couple of days and learn what a stable machine sounds like. A gain of 4-5 will find a silver dime at 6" without a problem. The cleaner ground you can start with the better. It takes a little time to understand what the detector is telling you but if you go...

For those on the fence ...Silver from the last couple of hunts.

I usually have to run 3 frequency to keep the old forged nails from sounding to good. If I have hunted the area quite a bit and am lacking positive targets I will go to a single frequency. The white SEF coils are v-rated and there has been some quality control issues in the past. It sounds...

For those on the fence ...Silver from the last couple of hunts.

Rob is correct, I am running stereo mixed mode and when it gets to be to much stimulation I pull the ferrous tone slightly off my ear to quiet it down a bit. When I need to really investigate a target I can slip it down in the blink of an eye.
