Change in settings leads to silver rosie and ihp

I have found that one of the main reasons coins continue to be found in heavily hunted areas is because on a particular day the chosen settings and conditions are what worked for that day. Some of these variables that make a difference are ground moisture, time of day, grass height, direction...

    Clad

There are some who say that silver can be found easier in dry soil verses wet soil. I have never tested this theory. $9.26 in clad is a good outing to stay in shape with.

Unbelievable silver hunts 3 halves well 6 with my friend joes also Spanish KG 22 silvers at the river Wednesday!

Nice group of coins. The site must have been a long term used area. The Half Reale doesn't seem to fit the time frame. Maybe it was lost under a different circumstance. Nice hunting !

    Coils.

Yea,It's a nice coil for woods hunting, the various twigs and weeds don't get caught up like the open coils do. I also sometimes use it in the farm fields when I am in an area that has lots of iron. When I want to pinpoint I pull the coil "back" towards me and use the toe for pinpointing.

    My First Silver Thimble!

Congrats on the bucket lister. I found a silver thimble early on about 40 years ago, but have never found another, only steel and aluminum since then.

Todays farm field hunt with my Nox 800!

Nice finds. All the farm fields in my area have been planted and are well on their way. The corn here is about 4 feet tall and the beans are bushed out to the point there is no room between rows. We are also in great need of rain. That 1700's field seems like a great area.

    Pennsylvania?

Most ghost towns are on private property. Always get permission before hunting any private owned location. It's a lot more fun hunting when you have permission and are not constantly looking over your shoulder. There are several internet sites that can provide property owner names for land...

Met an old-timers grandson who shocked me!

Nearly 1000 silver coins found on an old university grounds is probably normal. What's unusual about this particular case is that they were found by one person. Looks like the old fella found a hot area and stuck with it. It seems a little unusual that his journal only listed 1200 pennies...

    Where's Fisher ?

Maybe start again where you left off with the F2 and get the basics down. Try getting out a couple times a week to improve your swing and digging habits. If you still want to hunt more this Fall, then the AT Pro or the Equinox are both good choices.

    People Planting Finds

I enjoy seeing what others are finding and any information they can share about how and where it is found. The last thing I want to do is to try to read between the lines of someones post to try to decide if it is legit or not. We all have better things than that to do. When someone posts an...

should you let your metal detector touch the ground or not while detecting?

In grass, I always "slide" it along the grass as close to the ground as possible without causing excess friction. For an extra 1/2 inch or so of depth,I use the "scrub" method, which is pressing the coil against the ground during my side to side swing. Scrubbing slows me down and also requires...

    Legend scores yet again!

Very nice. You'll go over that find in your mind for years to come.

Took The Legend to the AdLawn and The Legend won!

Nice hunting on a hard hit area.

🆘🆘🆘 I DEMAND THE BEST METAL DETCTOR! 🆘🆘🆘

A detector that could completely eliminate target masking is what I would want. Just give me true target tone and somewhat accurate ID numbers and let me decide if I want to dig or not.

    Road trip iowa

That's a nice group of coins and other misc. finds. Some people will see a pile of finds like that and say "why can't I find stuff like that". As you stated ,it was 5 days hunting in heat and miserable conditions. It's not as easy as some people think. Nice hunting and congrats on some nice finds.

A Farm Field Untouched By Time

These coins and relics were found in a farm field at the site of an 1870's one-room schoolhouse. The Indian Head has green patina but the others a do not show any ground damage. The coins have not been cleaned in any way. The relics are also in good shape. The brass saddle strap and silver...

    The find that I wanted

That's a nice 3 cent piece. They started making them to pay for the new reduced postage rate of 3 cents for letters in 1851. They seemed to have circulated quite a lot. It's a hard coin to find because of their small size. Nice find!

    Gold coin!

It's good to know that it gave high numbers that everyone would dig. A $5 gold coin would not fare as well.

A little clad and an even tinier silver ring.

Nice ring find. A thin silver ring is easily missed.
