5 IHP in one day - way to go!

First field hunt of the year

Nice finds! I especially like the Indian. I take it the jar has a metal ring? Is the jar alabaster, ceramic, or glass? It is nice to be able to get out and actually dig again without having to chip through the dirt.

Update - I’d like to put in my two cents worth…

OK, I don’t know if there’s a way to mark a post title as updated, so I’m just creating a new post. After getting a privately made remote holder for my D2 to replace the stock mount which broke, I was eager to head to the field and test it out. Which field to head to? Of course I went to the...

    Well, it finally happened…

As many other people have reported, my remote started falling off the factory mount on the shaft. I had been trying to baby it along, but simply pressing buttons would cause it to tip back and fall off. I have had a lanyard attached to it and looped around the shaft so when it would fall off...

I’d like to put in my two cents worth…

Thanks! I foresee digging a lot of questionable targets in that area just to clear out the interference and see if there’s anything else good hiding.

I hope you find one too!

I had a fun outing today....

The silver ring is a nice reward for the amount of digging you must have done. That is quite a pile of coins!

I’d like to put in my two cents worth…

Thank you! Any other old coins I have let dry out for a few days, and then carefully clean off the caked dirt and sometimes a thin crust layer casing the actual surface of the coin using a cleaning pencil kit like Andre’s Crayons. In this case, it was only dirt on the coin. I had no fear just...

I’d like to put in my two cents worth…

It’s been a bit of a dry month in more ways than one. I obtained permission to hunt a field where there was a civil war skirmish so I thought I would swing by and see if it had been brushed or mowed yet. Unfortunately, it’s still waist high, so I will need to wait until everything dies and is...

    Is this legit

Top of a decorative fence post or bed post? The iron shank through the middle makes me think “not button“.

    Deus update

👍Please let us know how it does with the iron falsing, TID, and spurious responses with higher max frequencies. Some annoyances (I don’t know if I would call it an “issue”) have been reported for the HF2. On the flip side, the HF2 and V3 are apparently more stable and handle EMI better. How...

    Deus update

Headphones and controller need to be on the same version. Coil and pinpointer are fine. Out of curiosity, what coil and what version? After reading enough comments, I’m leaving my controller on version two for my black coils.

    Just standing around

Nice find! I have only found one walking liberty half, and it was a dense bed of nails and also had an iron spot on it.

    River finds today....

Looks like you might have covered your gas money. That would make a good day for me!

    New to this…

My first thought is coral of some sort. If it fizzes with dilute hydrochloric acid, it is limestone. However, since people post rock and metal detecting finds here, I need to ask an obvious question - was it found with a detector?

Can anyone help me identify this rock?

I grew up on the coast of Oregon. It looks like what I would call a jasp-agate (jasper and agate). I have cut some in my saws. You will likely find the inside is vuggy, and parts are softer than others. If you are lucky, some of the slabs will contain some vug-free areas large enough (and...
