Headphones and controller need to be on the same version. Coil and pinpointer are fine. Out of curiosity, what coil and what version? After reading enough comments, I’m leaving my controller on version two for my black coils.
Standard coil, I updated to 3.01. I went back and forth, but finally decided to go with update.

Please let us know how it does with the iron falsing, TID, and spurious responses with higher max frequencies. Some annoyances (I don’t know if I would call it an “issue”) have been reported for the HF2. On the flip side, the HF2 and V3 are apparently more stable and handle EMI better. How that all translates to the black coils and V3 may be a bit more subjective and may also depend on your soils.
