    Aussie 3 pence test

Rob, it looks as if you have hit on the solution. :clapping: I left all my settings as they are, & changed to 7.5kHz frequency only Picked up the coin at 4" with no trouble, VDI 48/51 with a diggable signal on the Spectra Graph. Somehow the three frequency/correlate must upset or confuse...

    Aussie 3 pence test

Thanks, Rob. I like that last suggestion. That sounds as if it might work, because I tried out an X-Terra 705 with the 7.5kHz concentric coil, & it also picked up the coin with no trouble. I did the Ground Probe again, These are the results PHASE VDI -93 2.5kHz. +177.5 7.5kHz...

    VX3 & Small Silver Coins.

cypearl........8" concentric. Rob.The DFX is also mine. I'll redo the test with both machines & try your suggestions, using all separate frequencies. I did a manual GB, but did not lock it. It's interesting what you say about correlate, because both detectors were tuned to that. It just seemed...

    VX3 & Small Silver Coins.

Simply, It won't pick them up at 4". Over here in OZ we have 2 small pre-decimal coins..threepence & sixpence.Early ones were 92% silver, & later ones 50%. The VX3 picks up all quite readily when the coins are on the surface. Bury the coins at 4"....NADA....will not pick them up at all. This...

    VX3 batteries

Yep, same here....2900 in the VX3, which has not been recharged after 20 odd hours, & still reading 10.30 v. Also keep 3 x AA packs handy. No chance I'll run out of power!:detecting:

    Coil Size & Application

firstring, I'm leaning towards the 6x10 as my main coil iin the parks, & the 950 on the beach, because they worked so well on the DFX........ Haven't tried the 4x6 yet. I also have lower shafts for all or them.....does make life easier! Rob, all the Whites coils are V rated, but naturally, not...

    Coil Size & Application

Thanks, Rob. Both the 9.5 & the 6x10 were very good on the DFX, so I might stick to those two on the VX3 for a while.

    Coil Size & Application

I currently have 5 coils for my new VX3 (2 inherited from the DFX), & so far use only a couple consistently, but not the others. In your opinion, from your experience, where would you use each coil to best advantage for park &/or beach? 10 inch Concentric 5 inch concentric 6x10 D 6x4 DD...

    How's the sunray?

I have the DX-1 on my DFX, & will shortly be transferring it to my soon to arrive VX3. Love it, but my biggest problem is that I often forget to switch over from probe to coil after a dig. Means I have to go back over old ground! IDIOT!! :rage:

    Whites GMT/VX3

I am at present running a DFX quite happily, but feel that I am missing out on small jewellery items (small chains/bracelets etc.) on the beaches here in Australia. Would the GMT solve this problem, while retaining the DFX, or would the VX3 be the better option as an all- round detector.? I...

    DFX Coils

I currently use the standard 950 Concentric coil on my DFX for general coin shooting in parks etc.,mainly because it has proven itself many times over.. I also have a 5.3" coil which I use in trashy areas, (great little coil) & also a 13" Ultimate coil which I use mainly in paddocks & on the...

    Chattery Sov GT.

My Sov GT started falsing on the beach today, in both the wet & dry sand.:ranting: I was running Sensitivity on Auto, & couldn't figure out what was wrong. I ended up pulling the coil cable out of the control box with the detector still switched on & putting it back in. This stopped all the...

    V3i Coil

Thanks for the feedback . Any suggestions for a bigger DD for the V3i? Maybe a WOT? I'm older & vertically challenged, & need to cover as much ground as possible in a shorter time than you fitter buggers!:detecting:
