Silver finds in the last month

I have had the E-Trac for a full month now, and have found more silver already this year than I found in the past two years. Nothing earthshaking, but a lot more silver than in the past. The etrac is a real guided missile when it comes to nickels and silver. Happy Hunting!

    First week with E-trac

Besides all the clad and cents found in the first week, the pics show my recent finds of 3 silver coins-more than I found all of last year-including two WWII nickels ('43 and '45) and a 192? mercury dime. This past week I also found six wheaties, two LA tax tokens, a common 1 mil and the less...

    E-trac or Explorer SE Pro?

That may be the question for new buyers or old SE owners. I had my SE for a while but didn't like the multi looney tunes, and also had a hard time pinpointing. It was difficult for me to identify targets before I dug them. So I traded with the Backwoods vendor and now am very happy with the...

    Troy Shadow X5

Some of you guys have experience with the X5 over a number of years. What do you think of it? As I said in another post, a friend of mine has one and he can find more good stuff quicker with his X5 than anyone else in our club. He doesn't need an ID meter, but listens to the beeps and uses...

listening to the MXT instead of just looking at target I.D.

These are some observations which I have made, and wonder if anyone else has also made these observations, or whether I am wrong. Please feel free to disagree about this. I find that my MXT in stable max output (+3) with the stock 9.5" coil will find quarters and silver dimes in my old test...

Newbie questions about Explorer SE Pro

I have discovered in my 2 year old test garden that my SE Pro will accurately depict (smartfind) clad quarter and silver dimes up to 7 or 8", respectively, displaying the pictograph in the upper Right corner. After that, the target window reflects its image in the upper LEFT corner of the...

WTB Nautilus 15" coil and shaft for IIBa

I will pay a reasonable price for a good used 15" coil for this machine. The new ones are $175 with shaft, so if you have a good, working used 15" factory coil, please let me know. Thank you!! Reggie

    SE Pro settings

I saw a post on this forum where someone suggested that he had set the tone variability to 4, and that it had quieted down his machine. I tried this setting with the "sounds" set in conductivity and found that the signals seemed to be easier to understand for me (a novice with minelab, but a 30+...

    Explorer SE learning curve

I am able to use this machine, but it is HARD to learn it. I do much better with all the simple detectors in my closet: DFX, MXT, CZ20 and Nautilus IIBa. I don't know why it is so hard for me, but it IS. Reggie

Tune for FE or COND for housesites and coins?

Do you prefer tuning for FE or tuning for Conductivity? When you are coin hunting/homesite hunting, do you run all metal or use some discrimination or iron mask? Thank you---a novice.

Accurate pictograph on SE at deeper targets?

I have an old test garden which has silver and clad coins from 2" to 12" deep. I have noticed that the target identification on the Explorer SE is right-on at 7", but begins to give a more ferrous indication at 8", and becomes way left of screen to indicate a ferrous object at 10" and deeper...

    Queen Victoria Token for India

It has taken the assistance of experts to learn what I found a month ago in a Fair Grounds/former 19th century homesite. I was shocked that it was more than 100 years old because of its good condition. I think it is either bronze or some mixture of brass and copper, as it is as found, except...

WTB 6" good coil and lower rod for Nautilus IIBa

Will pay thru paypal for a good, working 6" coil for that machine. A few scratches won't matter, but it MUST work perfectly. Thanks. Reggie

What are the advantages of tuning to FE vs Cond?

Some say to use FE to tune and some say it's better to tune to Conductivity. What are the advantages of tuing either way? Does it really matter?

Second day with the Explorer SE Pro

Many thanks to my friends at home and on this board who have helped me learn a little about this awesome machine. I set up my own discriminate pattern and spent 5 hours at the homesite of a friend, whose grandfather had had a home there in the early 20th century. My friend's dad was a WWII...

F/S Scorcher 4.5 coil for Garrett GTI 1500/2500

I have a fine Scorcher 4.5 inch coil for use with the Garrett GTI machines. These coils do not do imaging, but do indicate depth readings, pinpoint very well, and are very effective for trashy areas. It is in perfect working condition. I'm asking $65.00 for this $99.00 coil, as I have sold my...

First day out, one hour's use

Using the factory preset in "coin" mode, with some increase in sensitivity I only found a couple of coins in an hour (before the rainstorm hit) at an old home, but the learning curve has begun. When using the preset in "coins", what adjustments are most beneficial to a newbie with the SE? How...

    Explorer SE Pro has arrived

This machine is solid Quality. I set it in "coins" preset and will go hunting with it this afternoon. The 6X10 Joey coil is light and detects almost as deep as the 11" butterfly, and is a lot lighter. I only lose 1" on a test garden silver dime with the Joey, reaching only 8" instead of 9" as...

    F/S Garrett GTI 2500

This Garrett 2500 looks like new, and everything works. It is complete with mineralization chip, both the 9.5" imaging coil and the 12.5" imaging coil, which depict the true size and depth of the object detected. In all metal mode, this machine will find a 12 lb. cannon ball several feet deep...

Water hunting on east bank of Lake Erie?

I may be going to Lowville in upstate N.Y., and wonder if thebeaches on the east bank of Lake Erie are both safe and productive for water and beach detecting? Any legal problems with hunting there with land and/or underwater machines? Any suggestions as to which beaches might be good places to...
