    Gratifying Sunday Hunt

Congrats on the pair of Mercs, Buffs and the wheat harvest Dan. My last hunt was the first this year I had to call due to the heat. Strictly morning hunts for me till fall. Good luck using the 9 in. coil, I've been quite happy using it. Very light, even with the R&B battery pack I can swing it...

    3rd hunt with new Manticore

north1 I run ATLC in 5 tone. Rec. 7 Sens. 28. I could run higher but I don't see the need. I hit dimes and small nails in the 8 to 10 in. range quite often. The average depth for the older coins is in the 5 to 7 in. range. Using a recovery speed below 4 will elongate or stretch the signal to...

    3rd hunt with new Manticore

North1 good write up and congrats on squeaking a few more keepers from a well pounded site. I find I forget to check the 2D screen myself. However as I dig most mid-tones I find I'm using it more and more. Also, agree, realtime pinpointing is a nice feature. I also have found my plugs seem to be...

I was wrong about the Manticore.

Congrats on the Buff. I also dug a Buff yesterday with red line under the #s, a 24-25. Not sure how accurate the red line is. I've dug many a nickel with them and a ton of iron that didn't show it. I will usually pop the plug and rescan, if the signal falls apart it junk, if it holds it is...

    Question??

One of the complaints when the 800 hit the U.S. in Feb. of 18 was its narrow Id range. The ability to distinguish between a penny and a dime was also lacking and hasn't gotten any better with the newest round of SMF detectors. The coin Id on the 900 you would learn quickly with a few air tests...

    Equinox factory reset

Ted, I remember on some hunts the 900 was unstable and it seemed like it would have trouble locking on to a signal. Not sure if you subscribe to the theory of silent EMI but that is what I blamed it on. Lowering the sensitivity to 20 or so usually helped. Never really tried the long noise cancel...

Killer permission multi silver spills! Barber quarter Washington

Wow what a silver score Mark. Ya gotta love it when coins keep coming out of the hole, particularly silver ones. I've been lucky with silver spills over the years and my biggest was 5 in the same hole. Sounds like that place may have a lot to offer, good luck on your return

    Manticore over E-trac

Two tone ferrous. I would switch to it to help Id a good target in trash. I only used the Etrac for about a year and a half and the one thing I can say my coin count to trash digs were never better Had they not come out with the Equinox I might still have it. Although its weight was startingt o...

Minelab has DISCONTINUED the EQUINOX 600 and 800 .....MANTICORE is on sale at $1299....Whats next for Minelab?

I found pretty much the opposite. While I agree the build quality s a thing of beauty, and the added features of vibration, flashlight, red backlight were nice add ons . I didn't care for the expanded VDI. Performance wise I think the 800 with its compressed VDI is still the better machine...

Barber & Franklin Halves / Old Political Token

You sir are the consummate coinshooter. Your knack for silver is uncanny. Congrats on all the shiny and other cool finds. I love the presidential token. What is the thing to the right of the watch. I've dug a couple of them. You mentioned you have a Manticore. Your thoughts ? I use one and...

    1805 Dime video

What a find !!! Looks too big to be a dime. Were 20 cent pieces around back then ?

    First run with the M9

Maybe more than one target under the coil ? A high recovery speed. I have been running 7 and doing pretty well. Haven't noticed that with mine. Headed out later today, will pay attention and let you know. One thing about mine that drives me crazy that now matter how you adjust it the coil is...

Found a couple of silvers today

Congrats on the pair of Merc's. Can't beat a double silver hunt. Sounds like that place may have some more to give. Good luck.

    Learning the Manticore

I have found the red lines to be accurate about half the time. I dig just about every 23-24-25. Many of them with the red line and yet they are nickels. When I pop the plug, I rescan, if the signal falls apart I know it iron. Most nickles are oblong smears on the centerline. And if I get a high...

    Learning the Manticore

Pretty good first outing. I have a little over a hundred hours on mine and still dig a lot of junk. I run mine wide open, I feel I can learn more not running any filters. My preference iS ATLC in 5 tone. Good luck and enjoy your new rig.

with all the chatter going on over on the garrett site about the vx9 update debacle... it got me wondering

You could go to Minelabs website, plug the 600 in. But all you really need to do is cycle through the frequencies, if the 4 Klhz option is there, then you have the latest upgrade for the Equinox 6/800. Let me know. Good luck.

The Old Park Gives It Up Again !

Thank you laplander, I got a chuckle when I dug the top but it does age the area. Hopefully more old relics to be found. I was used to the 8 & 900 maxing out numbers but so far with the Manticore Id has been pretty accurate. Good luck.
