    1856 quarter was my best coin. My oldest US quarter. Hard to find coins this old in Texas. My bucket list would be a 3 cent silver. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    An archeological dig west of Houston found a shell like that. Their research says: Eley Brothers, London, England. Eley apparently started making these shells about 1828. Excellent find!

    Detectable rocks?

    The most common questions to answer on meteorites is: Is it heavy for its size? Will a magnet attract it? Most have high iron content, but a small percentage are rocky. Common magnetite will make a compass move, but is terrestrial.

    Liberty cap

    I think what you are seeing is the 1/200 on the reverse of the coin, which = 1/2 cent. The obverse would have the date. Nice find. I've never found any US coins that old in Texas.

    Is it a marble?

    Yes, it’s a ceramic marble. I consider those a poor-man’s marble since I find a lot in poorer neighborhoods. I’ve found the glazed brown like yours, glazed blue, glazed white, and unglazed clay. Nice job on the Franklin half. They seem to be harder to find than Walking Liberty halves.
