Another one bites the dust, RIP MD-Hunter Blog

Damn, I was just on MD-Hunter Blog last night. Went back on just now, refreshed to see if there were any new stories and saw this. With all the increased competition we all seem to be facing, at least on the beaches, it’s a wonder we’re losing these types of detecting sites. There seems to be...

Does anyone here remember a guy named VA beach Max, or grave digger Max from another forum ??

Here's another one Mark from 9 years ago, so better video clarity. Fast forward to 9:43 and pause. You'll get a clear look at the hook setup. Looks like a smaller hook than the one in the previous video, so may have change design a bit.

Does anyone here remember a guy named VA beach Max, or grave digger Max from another forum ??

Here ya go Mark. This is a video that Joe Beechnut / OBN filmed 16 years ago when he was hunting with VA Beach Max. Fast forward to 2:09 and you'll see VA Max's hook setup on his right hip all throughout the rest of the video. To my eyes,, looks like he probably got a U hook from Home Depot or...

Why I wear boots in the water

Yep, I had another guy say the same. They look exactly like the wire used for that beach fencing. They must have been tossed around the sand by the water like a tumbler, because the ends are pointed and very sharp.

Why I wear boots in the water

I would never hunt beaches barefoot; I always wear either my diving booties or water shoes. And here's a good reason why. I found these nasty rusted barbs of twisted wire with super sharp pointy tips in dry sand several years ago. They were only a few inches deep and had been lying in the sand...

Why I wear boots in the water

I've found the same since Erin was here. When I searched the wet for 2 blocks using a PI and only got 1 signal at the end, I knew more sand had been dumped by the ocean. Erin seemed to be more of a depositor than the stripper I had hoped, lol.

I Think This Might Be The #1 Reason We Have So Much Competition Today

Totally agree Donna. I got my Minelab Sovereigns about 14/15 years ago, because back then, I too had heard that multi-frequency detectors were needed to work the wet and shallow water. Back then, I'd step on a beach, and I'd own the wet & shallow water. There might be 1 other guy swinging an...

I Think This Might Be The #1 Reason We Have So Much Competition Today

Sounds like another impulse purchase of a detector, not a serious detectorist. I think the "competition" we've heard about and/or seen are probably and mostly made up of this type of guy, not serious & not a lot of experience. They're probably newbies, watched a couple YouTube videos of...

I Think This Might Be The #1 Reason We Have So Much Competition Today

A bad's day detecting still beats a good day at the office. That guy must not have been a serious detectorist, probably bought the detector on impulse after hearing about cheddar being pulled from the sand at beaches, probably didn't realize all the work & frustration involved, lol. If there are...

I Think This Might Be The #1 Reason We Have So Much Competition Today

I've been giving more thought about the increased competition we face today, and I can't believe I either forgot or didn't think of this earlier. Countless posts have discussed this before, and I’ve jumped in as well mentioning things like the increasing prices of gold & silver, more detector...

Gigmaster hunts the water with our own OBN aka Old Beechnut aka Joe Beechnut

I think that video will be coming, it was either Gig or OBN who said the video would probably be out in a couple weeks. Gigmaster puts out a lot of videos, pretty much every day, and it can take quite a bit of time to edit and produce all those videos, so videos you see him post today, may have...

Gigmaster hunts the water with our own OBN aka Old Beechnut aka Joe Beechnut

Just watched a Gigmaster video posted 3 days ago titled “Beach Update, Xtreme Scoop and More!” Gigmaster (Steve) & John Boy headed north from VA up to MD to hunt the water with OBN. I heard it was a 4-hour drive for them, each way. To watch Steve discuss the hunt, forward the video to 4:55...

Hitting Beaches in DE as Hurricane Erin approaches

Oh man, don't get me started, lol. I still suffer "PTSD" from an incident that occurred back in 1975. I was a senior in high school, so me and some buddies went down to Ocean City for senior week. The movie "JAWS" had just been released, there was a theater off the boardwalk that was showing the...

Hitting Beaches in DE as Hurricane Erin approaches

Great story Odan! Yeah, those cuts can be extremely dangerous if one is not paying close attention to incoming waves. There have been quite a few times that I was working a cut, and had a brief thought, what if a big wave decided to crash close by, and the surge of rushing water pinned me...

Hitting Beaches in DE as Hurricane Erin approaches

Man tvr, I'll never forget detecting on a beach years ago as a hurricane was passing by us off the coast. Had to deal with gale force winds, rivers of sand blowing, and without thinking, I wandered down to the wet and into shallow water, like I always do. But then, I happened to look up and saw...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

No, there's no cost to upload videos or to set up a channel. And you also have a choice, you can make any of your videos viewable to the public, or if you'd like, you can also make certain videos private, where only people you send the link to can view, but it won't show up on YouTube searches...

Hitting Beaches in DE as Hurricane Erin approaches

I was down at the beaches in DE on Sunday night & Monday. Wife and I planned this short trip before Hurricane Erin became a thing, so that I could try out “Franken DuFi”, my “new to me” Dual Field PI, which is also my first PI after swinging BBS/SMF, VLF, TR & a BFO for the last 56 years. Sunday...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

Thank you sir. Yeah, foam would be great, but I was using my cell phone with the built in mics. I noticed if I pointed the phone more north, that the wind noise was greatly reduced, but when I moved to a more southern area, the wind noise intensified, probably due to the wind hitting the mics in...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

Hey Odan, I'll be doing a post about this but since you're homebound and bored, thought I'd give you an advance heads-up. I was just down at the beaches in DE for a couple days, wife and I planned the trip before Hurricane Erin was a thing. I wanted to try out my "new to me" Dual Field PI...
